An ideal Christmas for young Texas attorney JD Thompson would be watching movies at home with his cat and eating leftovers. But his pregnant sister Merry goes into labor months too early, and Nick, an injured friend from high school, is suffering from current and past trauma. They have no one to turn to but JD. JD needs more than Nick’s service dog Saint to save Merry and her baby and solve the mystery gripping Nick’s life.
What genre is your Christmas book and is it part of a series? Edgy cozy, 6th book in the Black Orchid Enterprises Mystery series
Why did you write a Christmas-themed book? The most wonderful time of the year is also the most stressful and seems an ideal time for mysteries to emerge.
Please Share a holiday scene from your book with us. I pulled my suit jacket tight across my chest as I dashed across the backyard. Texas weather, for a change, turned frigid this December. Entering Gregg House’s back door, I glanced down the long gallery and saw only my two housemates at the far end. Safety, achievement unlocked.
My dress shoes clacked on the wood floor as I strolled toward the front door. The party food had vanished, leaving behind only the aroma of winter evergreens, twisted into wreaths and sprays. They adorned every surface and wall in the Mega-Maxi-Dickensian holiday decor. I had to swerve around the T-Rex-sized Christmas tree that reached for heavens, or at least the second floor, of this cathedral-like hall.
The most beautiful woman in the world, Dianne Cortez, my three-time ex-girlfriend and current business partner, had arranged herself artistically on the 1940s gold velvet sofa, which complemented her forest-green velour A-line party dress. She trimmed it with new red accessories every year. Her wavy black hair had tumbled out of its updo and hung over a sofa arm. “JD, do you realize this is the first holiday open house we’ve given without a murder?”
“The party is technically over, but the night is young,” Johnny Ly, my other partner, observed. He perched on the throne-like red velvet chair from the same era as the sofa. During his grandmother’s fifty-year reign, she sat there and ruled over us and all Beauchamp. Though she’d retired and turned the house over to Johnny, he looked more like a kid sitting with the grownups for the first time, a weird observation about someone who’d completed vet school and most of a zoo vet residency.
Dianne raised an eyebrow as I sank into a gold velvet chair with channel stitching. “Where have you been, JD?”
“Guarding the cat shelter,” I announced with aplomb.
Why is Christmas special to your main character? Christmas is special in that he’s hated it since his mother’s death. She always made wonderful holidays for the family. He’s tried to avoid family holidays ever since, until now, when his sister has no one else to turn to.
The Three Cats Café has always been a haven of warmth and hope, but this Christmas, it’s working overtime to spread love and miracles. As Rosie navigates family struggles and a blossoming romance, can the season’s magic show her that some dreams are worth fighting for?
What genre is your Christmas book and is it part of a series? My genre is contemporary Christian romance (all sweet – no spice). My Christmas book is book five in my Haven series. All are set in the same little coastal town of Maine that I’ve called Haven. It only exists in my mind. The first four books of the Haven series follow a family of brothers – the Grant brothers. Each one has their own story. Book five completes the series. While the main characters are new, the setting is not. And my favorite couple from book three (shhhh…don’t tell the others) also has a part in this story. I feel like it wraps up the series well, but could also be read as a stand alone story.
Why did I write a Christmas-themed book? Christmas is my favorite holiday. And a few years ago I started getting in the holiday spirit by reading Christmas themed books. I loved that so much I just knew I would have to do it with my own series.
Share a holiday scene from your book with us. Rosie almost backed out of meeting Liam, but she didn’t have his phone number. And she didn’t want to stand him up after everything he’d done for her today, from helping her with the kids to running her to get gas for her car. Her cheeks warmed at the memory. She still couldn’t believe she’d run out of gas. How did that even happen? She’d never let it get below half a tank before. But things had been so chaotic lately—work shifts, classes, shuttling her siblings to and from school—it was like her mind couldn’t keep up anymore. When she spotted Liam’s truck already in the parking lot of the Three Cats, her heart gave an unexpected flutter. She glanced at the clock on the dashboard. Ten minutes early. He’s already here? Her pulse quickened as she parked and grabbed her purse. This was just dinner and a movie with an old classmate, nothing more. Why was she nervous? This was Liam. Except she’d had a crush on Liam since sixth grade. Growing up, he’d always been nice to her. But then again, he’d been nice to everyone. He was just that kind of person. Smiling, she remembered how he and his friends would come in almost every Friday night and snag a booth when she was working. Those nights had been the highlight of her week. They gave her an excuse to talk with Liam, even if it was just “what can I get you?” Grabbing her purse off the front seat, she stepped out into the cold and hurried toward the café. She opened the door to the Three Cats, and warmth and the familiar scent of coffee, cinnamon, and fresh bread wrapped around her. Rosie inhaled deeply, grounding herself in the comforting smells. “Hey there,” Colleen’s voice came from behind the counter. “Your friend’s been here a while. Grabbed his favorite booth and everything.” Rosie’s cheeks heated. “Thanks, Colleen,” she mumbled, brushing past her boss. As soon as she saw Liam, her heart did a strange little skip. It was ridiculous—this was Liam, the boy she’d known forever. And yet, the way he looked at her made her feel like she was standing on the edge of something new and terrifying. For a moment, she let herself enjoy the thought: Liam had been waiting. For her. As she started walking towards the booth, she realized she’d never acknowledged Colleen. She glanced back but saw her boss had already turned to greet the next person coming through the door. “Hey,” Liam said, sliding out of the booth as she approached. “Hey yourself,” Rosie replied, unsure whether to hug him or shake his hand. But before she could decide, he leaned in, giving her a quick one-armed hug, warm and casual, like they’d done this a hundred times before.
Why is Christmas special to your main character? A major life change happens to Rosie right before the start of the story. The story shows how she adapts and learns to live with the fact that life is hard. She struggles with trying to keep things together – family, life, school, work – and the story shows that struggle. She has to learn she can’t do it alone and needs to rely on God. This all happens wrapped up in the Christmas season. Without the miracle of Christmas, we’d all be lost like Rosie is at the start of the story.
Grief has stolen everything from Emma Whitman, but a return to her small Appalachian hometown offers an unexpected chance at healing. In Laurel Ridge, she finds herself drawn to Mark Thompson, her high school boyfriend and now a widowed father, whose quiet strength and unwavering faith begin to mend her fractured heart. As the holiday season wraps them in its magic, Emma must decide if she’s ready to rekindle their past, embrace the love she thought she’d lost, and trust in a future filled with hope and the promise of redemption.
Genre: Contemporary Christian Inspirational Romance
Why did I write a Christmas-themed book? Every year, when the holiday season rolls around, there’s a certain kind of magic in the air that I can’t resist. The twinkling lights, the cozy gatherings, and the hopeful spirit of Christmas have always inspired me. I wanted to capture that feeling—the warmth of a crackling fire, the joy of a families and friends coming together, and the sweet possibility of romance blooming under a snowy sky—in a story that readers could curl up with, hot cocoa in hand.
Writing Love Redeemed was my way of inviting you into a world where love and faith shine brightest during the holidays. Laurel Ridge, with its quaint charm and close-knit community, became the perfect setting to explore the idea of finding hope in unexpected places. I hope this story wraps around you like a favorite blanket and reminds you of the simple joys of the season—and maybe even inspires you to believe in a little holiday magic, too.

“Dance with me?” he asked quietly, holding out his hand.
Emma’s heart fluttered as she placed her hand in his. “Here? Now?”
“Why not?” His smile was gentle as he drew her close, one hand settling at her waist while the other held hers against his chest. “It’s perfect.”
And it was. They swayed together slowly, the carol washing over them as snowflakes danced in the glow of the Christmas tree. Emma could see Olivia on the carousel, waving each time she passed, her face lit up with joy. Couples and families moved around the square, everything softened by the falling snow and twinkling lights.
“Emma,” Mark’s voice was soft but serious, making her look up at him. “I need to tell you something.”
Her heart quickened at his tone. “What is it?”
He took a deep breath, his eyes never leaving hers. “I think I’m falling in love with you. Again. Or maybe I never really stopped in the first place.” He paused, his hand tightening slightly on her waist. I know it might be too soon to say it, and I don’t expect you to say anything back. I just… I needed you to know. Being with you these past few weeks, seeing you with Olivia, watching you become part of our lives again—it’s shown me what I’ve been missing all these years.”
Emma felt tears prick at her eyes, but they weren’t sad tears. They were the kind that came when your heart was so full it couldn’t hold all the emotion anymore.
“Mark,” she whispered, her voice trembling slightly. “I—”
Why is Christmas special to my main characters? Christmas holds a special meaning for Emma and Mark because it represents a season of hope, healing, and renewal—something they both desperately need. For Emma, Christmas in Laurel Ridge brings back memories of simpler, happier times before grief overshadowed her life. It’s a time when the warmth of community, the glow of twinkling lights, and the quiet beauty of the season slowly start to rebuild her faith and her belief in love.
For Mark, Christmas has always been about creating joyful memories for his daughter, Olivia, while honoring the traditions he once shared with his late wife. This year, the season takes on a deeper meaning as Emma reenters his life, stirring feelings of love and connection he thought were lost forever. Together, Emma and Mark find that Christmas is more than a holiday—it’s a chance to rediscover joy, build new traditions, and let their hearts open to the possibility of a future filled with faith, love, and second chances.
Flirty Flo Flamingo, savvy CEO of Flamingo Elite Couriers, and her sharp-witted human companion, Pinky Sway, find themselves tangled in a murder at the annual Flamingo Bay Festive Food Fling – where this year’s star ingredient is eggnog. With a smarmy TV host from Flavor Fusion Culinary Adventures, an international film star, temperamental hot-headed chefs, and a dash of jealousy, a pinch of suspicion, and a heap of rivalry, it’s no wonder someone ends up dead. Can Flirty Flo and Pinky Sway solve the murder?
What genre is your Christmas book and is it part of a series? Cozy Mystery & it is Book 1 in a new series
Why did you write a Christmas-themed book? Apparently, I didn’t have any better sense. LOL Basically, I didn’t have a Christmas-themed book in any of my other series.
Share a holiday scene from your book with us… Christmas decorations adorned Flamingo Bay. The palm trees lining the main street were wrapped in twinkling white lights. The palm fronds sparkled with red and green ornaments and starfish. Wreaths made of seashells, coral, and driftwood hung on store doors with a splash of red ribbon or miniature anchors intertwined.
Business windows were painted with festive scenes, featuring Santa on a surfboard or a reindeer wearing sunglasses, along with phrases like “Merry & Bright” in glittering sand-like font. Other windows boasted “It’s a Florida Christmas” with palm trees and flamingos surrounding the text.
Strings of colorful lights in the shape of flip-flops or flamingos line the awnings and entryways. Of course, Flirty Flo was convinced the flamingos were an homage to her.
Why is Christmas special to your main character? One word, eggnog and cooking contest. What could possibly go wrong?
Christmas has arrived in Moon’s Landing, a quaint town where holiday cheer usually fills the air. But this year, along with festive joy, something far more has arrived: murder.
What genre is your Christmas bookand is it part of a series? Murder by Christmas is a Cozy Mystery and part of a series.
Share a holiday scene from your book with us. Once again, it’s Christmastime in Moon’s Landing. Every year, without fail, our sleepy little town came alive with the magic of the season. I’d always believed that if there were one place in the world that could completely transform into Santa’s Village, it would be this town. Nestled in a cocoon surrounded by mountains and the sea, we might as well be cut off from the rest of the world. But we take Christmas seriously—no corner was left undecorated.
Each year, my neighbors would try to outdo the other by dressing up their lawns and homes with the latest blow molds and twinkle lights. This town had everything, but one particular detail was always missing—I’ve never seen it snow here.
Walking down my street was just a glimpse of what the rest of the town had to offer. As I crossed, I admired a house wrapped in glowing white lights threaded through tree branches, the trunk covered in red foil with a giant gold bow. Presents, carefully wrapped, sat beneath the tree, waiting.
Next door, a grand Victorian house held wooden reindeer in the windows, while the roof was covered in painted turf to mimic snow. Faux-glass ornaments in shades of blue and gold sparkled against the white.
And then there’s my other neighbor, Mason Whiskey Moon; his home remained untouched. He must not have received the H.O.A. letter informing us that our homes needed to be decorated to show our spirit. But, knowing Mason, I don’t think he was afraid of our president, Lois Jones.
Why did you write a Christmas-themed book? Christmas is one of my favorite holidays, and it just seemed like the perfect fit for my series.
Why is Christmas special to your main character? The Christmas season is special to Birdie because she can share the warmth and love with her friends and be reminded that even through the season’s chaos, friendships are what matters most of all.
What genre is your Christmas bookand is it part of a series? CONTEMPORARY SMALL TOWN ROMANCE. PART OF EVERGREEN LAKE: UNDER THE MISTLETOE
Why did you write a Christmas-themed book? THE MAGIC OF CHRISTMAS
Share a holiday scene from your book with us. I KNEW I couldn’t hide in bed all day. I had to go out and face the town. Would they give me a difficult time or would they even care? I certainly hope it was the latter.
Either way I had a responsibility, and it meant sucking up my embarrassment and charging forward.
I had no idea how many people would be waiting to board the train. It was complimentary and no tickets were required. To say I was thrilled with the response at the amount of people waiting on the platform was an understatement. The platform was packed!
It was first come, first serve, and we had two restored cars along with the steam engine.
I found the conductor in the crowd of people. “Daniel, look at you! You look fantastic. Are these reproductions or original garments?”
He laughed. “Some are reproduction and some original.” He tapped the hat. “Original. Same with the tie and vest, pants and shoes and anything underneath are replicas.”
I pointed to his chest. “And the stopwatch?”
He pulled it out of his pocket and held it in the palm of his hand. “Original, it’s been passed down from my great, great, great grandfather. He was a conductor, and thankfully some of his items were carefully stored away.”
“How wonderful. I love history, and anything old that reflects the past. I keep hoping to find secret stashes of days gone by items in my grandmother’s house. One day I’ll dig into it.”
“Definitely make the time. You’ll be glad you did.” He glanced at the watch and then me. “It’s time.”
“Go do your thing,” I said and boarded the train. I gasped when inside. It was lovely and obviously, a first class car with the wood paneled walls and accessories. Brass fixtures had been polished to a high shine, and the fabric and leather seats were spotless. It was like stepping back in time.
There was even a decorated Christmas tree, pine and cedar garland swaged from window to window sparkling with mini lights.
The conductor’s whistle pierced the air followed by his loud shout aaaalllll abooooaaaarrrd! Immediately the atmosphere ignited with excitement and I found a single seat at the front of the car. Passengers streamed onto the train, and clamored for seats.
A few minutes later the train whistle blew and the cars jumped forward as the engine was let loose. Smoke from the stack puffed out and soon the wheels were clacking rhythmically on the tracks, heading out of town to Winter Farm.
Like other passengers, I had my phone out taking photos. Tears pricked my eyes seeing the folks waving and shouting at the street crossing as the train chugged past. It was brilliant and I choked up. All my concerns and worries were left behind as the train slowly moved through town and out to the private tracks.
The clickety clack of the wheels on the rails, along with the sleigh bells strung up in the carriage was all the music we needed. My chest swelled with intense happiness.
Snow had been falling lightly in town, and it got heavier the further we went, and by the time we arrived at Winter Farm, big fat fluffy flakes drifted out of the sky.
“Oh look, Mommy, it’s Christmas snow,” a little girl squealed. “I can’t wait to see Santa!”
I heard comments like, “So beautiful,” “Winter wonderland,” and “I hope it never stops.”
Even though the snow was pretty, if stayed like this, it shouldn’t pose a problem, but if it got heavier then that would be a whole different scenario.
Why is Christmas special to your main character? SHE LOVES CHRISTMAS AND IN THIS STORY HER JOB SECURITY HINGES ON THE SUCCESS OF THE CHRISTMAS FESTIVAL.
