Scrolling through LEGO City Coast Guard sets reveals that a new range of rescue boats and helicopters has been released every three or four years. It has, however, been nine years since the last batch of Coast Guard sets were released.

I have been waiting for the release of a marine-focused rescue helicopter and 60503 Coast Guard Helicopter does not disappoint. Read on as I have a look at the latest addition to LEGO City's range of emergency services helicopters.

Brickset users are always eager to share their opinions on new sets and the state of The LEGO Group as a whole, myself included. Now we have an opportunity to do so directly via The LEGO Fan Compass.

This survey invites LEGO fans to give feedback on a range of topics, including your own experience with the hobby, your thoughts about the LEGO brand and the fan community, plus an open opportunity to recommend a 'fix' for something specific.

You can take the survey here and it will remain open until April 30th. It is estimated to take about ten minutes to complete.

Bricks On Display 2.0

Posted by ,
Image

This article has been contributed by Carlos José Baragaño Móner:

Hello again! After the publication of my first article Bricks on Display: a collection of interlocking building bricks, I decided to continue the historical research on bricks, which has since become my main hobby.

I would like to express my gratitude for the wide reach that article received; despite its impact, my initial intention was simply to build a box with old pieces to hang on the wall of my home.

Over the years, however, I have developed several displays, each focused on a specific theme and featuring various modifications, both in assembly and in functionality.

For this reason, and on an occasional basis, I will be presenting these articles in collaboration with Brickset.

Review: 11378 Douglas DC-3 PAN AM Airliner

The iconic Douglas DC-3 played a formative role in the commercial airline industry, introduced in 1936 and instantly becoming an aircraft beloved by passengers and pilots alike. Additionally, this airliner is famed for its adaptability and lifespan, with DC-3s still in service today!

Pan American Airways, better known as Pan Am, was also integral to the development of air travel worldwide, so bringing them together with 11378 Douglas DC-3 PAN AM Airliner feels appropriate and I think this model looks spectacular, worthy of the Icons range.

Review: 72050 Mario Kart - Luigi & Mach 8

Posted by ,
Image

In 1983, Luigi was created by performing a simple colour swap of Mario’s sprite in the Mario Bros. arcade game. Since then, his unique identity has developed beyond ‘green Mario’ and has even spun off into his own separate games.

The choice of Luigi’s name was inspired by the formal Japanese word for similar, pronounced “ruiji”. While there are many similarities to 2025’s 72037 Mario & Standard Kart, in this set, Luigi stands, or rather sits, tall on his own in his often-used Mach 8 kart.

The launch of the LEGO x Crocs collection this week has coincided with the opening of a new Crocs brand store in London, so we sent our local correspondent Hannah (@DollsandBricks) along to the pre-opening event for a hands-on look at them yesterday evening. She sends us this report:

Last night saw the swanky opening of the first full-priced Crocs store in the UK, located at Westfield London Stratford, alongside the physical launch of the Crocs x LEGO collaboration.

The evening featured influencers, canapés and music from the DJ booth.
