IMO –
the International Maritime Organization – is the United Nations specialized agency with responsibility for the safety and security of shipping and the prevention of marine and atmospheric pollution by ships. IMO's work supports the UN sustainable development goals.
IMO is preparing to launch the second audit cycle of the IMO Member State Audit Scheme (IMSAS) with a revised Framework and Procedures.
A key step to enhance transparency and cooperation in Port State Control (PSC) took place at IMO Headquarters in London (26 February), with the signing of an updated data-exchange agreement between IMO and the Paris Memorandum of Understanding on Port State Control (Paris MoU).
Trinidad and Tobago has strengthened its national capability for responding to marine incidents involving hazardous and noxious substances (HNS).
