Mickey Mouse Cupcakes

This will be my final post on my daughter's 2-year-old birthday party.  I was going to order the standard store bought cake but was talking to a co-worker who brought in cupcakes and she convinced me that I could make cupcakes.  So I did!  :)

Here is the cupcake stand.  This is a Halloween cupcake stand that I bought from Michael's.  It originally had a black skull at the top but I cut out the Mickey shape and covered it up.

I made cupcake toppers by designing them in Gypsy, assembling, and putting them onto a black coffee stir stick. They are about 2" around.

Splash Layout using Cricut Imagine

I am very happy right now!  First, I did the most recent updates to my Gypsy and my Imagine today.  They both went flawlessly.  While I did not cut from my Gypsy to my Imagine, I did make this entire layout with just my Imagine!  I used the Imagine More cart and the Create a Critter cart.

First, I printed the entire sheet of background paper you see here.  Here is a picture of it while it was printing!  I had the overspray set to medium and my mat didn't get too inked up so that is wonderful!  (I was a little worried.)

I cut the Splash phrase from Create a Critter phrase feature and flood filled it with colors from Imagine More.

I added a little bit of Stickles to liven it up and used dimensionals to give it layer.

I cut the circles at a variety of sizes from the default images on the Imagine.  I covered them with Glossy Accents to make them shine.  (They are still wet in this picture so they will turn out better in the morning.)

Lastly, I cut the duck from the default images in the Imagine and flood filled it with a pattern from the Imagine. I added stickles to give it a wing and a pretty beak, along with a Peechy Keen Stamp for the eye and nose notch.

The mats that my photos are on are also from Create a Critter, filled with a matching color from Imagine More.  I am very happy that we can now print an entire page of pattern with the Imagine!  It looks great, not like I printed it but like I bought it.  That is wonderful.  Thanks for looking!

Mickey Mouse Crayons

In my previous post, I shared with you the Mickey Mouse coloring books that I made for my daughter's 2nd birthday party.  Well, you have to have crayons to go along with them, right??  So... all the goodie bags also got these decked out crayons: 

This idea came to me sort of by accident.  I hadn't planned on decorating the crayons but I had a big pile of the negatives from the invites I made for the party (you can see those here).   "Oh boy!" fit perfectly across the front of these crayon boxes.  I took a piece of  8"x3.75" black paper, adhered a piece of red 8"x3", and wrapped it around the crayon box, securing it with two strips of ATG glue.  

Here is a side view, so you can see that the paper goes all the way around the box.  

These really made the crayons look cute.  They served no functional purpose of course but they looked cute!  

Mickey Mouse Coloring Books

Ok, I promised to post my Mickey Mouse creations but I got carried away with the Imagine and a busy week at work!  This is my most-excited-about item - the coloring book!  The idea came about when my daughter was demanding to "help" me scrapbook.  Since she only just turned two, that wasn't going so well.  Then it dawned on me that I have Cricut markers! So I threw in some markers and drew her some shapes to color.  That idea turned into this birthday party favor!

These books are 8x8 and all "cuts" are from Mickey Font. 

There are six pages on the inside, each with a character and that character's name.  Here are a few shots of the pages:

Lastly, I punched two holes in the sides and tied with a black and a red ribbon.  I love these and was so proud of them!

So excited! First Imagine Cards!

I am so excited right now!  I just made my first two cards using the Cricut Imagine!  I won the Imagine at a Cricut Circle meet up in Waukesha, WI this past August.  It arrived on my door step Friday afternoon and I finally got to take it out and set it up today.  Everything works like a charm!  

The first is a birthday card for my father-in-law, who is the country type.  This cow comes from the Imagine More cartridge and is cut at 3.7".  The yellow card base is also from Imagine More, a pattern base.  The brown is just a brown piece of cardstock.

Here is a closer view of the cow and the one thing I am not sure about with the Imagine so far.  I can see the print lines of the ink.  :(  

For the inside, I cut the cow head layer, again at 3.7" and a speech bubble, also from Imagine More.  The sentiment is a My Pink Stamper stamp.

The second card I made this evening will be my entry for Weekly Challenge #2 on the Cricut Circle blog.  The challenge was to use at least 3 things from their list.  I used pink, scallops, bling, and glitter so I am covered! The rounded corner square and two scallops are from the "generic" shapes on the Imagine, all filled with custom colors. 

The ribbon is from Stand and Salute, filled with a color custom choice on the Imagine. One thing I learned was to do your stickles first, not after if you are using dimensionals.  So my ribbon is a little wavy from the wetness of the stickles but oh well, it's a ribbon, right?!  Plus, it is still wet here because I am impatient and want to get these pictures up! :)

The sentiment inside is a Disney Princess stamp I picked up at Michael's awhile ago on clearance.

Cat's Meow Card

Hello!  I hope you all had a wonderful week!  Thanks for visiting me!  Today I have a card I made for my aunt.  She loves cats so when I saw Karlee's cat card, I wanted to make my own version of it! Here is what mine looks like:

The cat is from Create a Critter and is cut at 3.5 inches.  I really love this card!  I almost wished I could keep it for myself.  But what good would that do me?  We make cards to make others feel good, right?!

Here is what the inside looks like.  I added a matching strip of paper from the front, plus a ball of yarn feature cut.  The sentiment is from My Pink Stamper.

Rock Princess for boys

Get ready to see some card posts from me!  The first week of October is the busiest in my family all year for birthdays and anniversaries!  First up... two male birthdays, one for my nephew and one for my brother-in-law. Both of these cards were made using Rock Princess. 

Rock On (cut at 3 inches):

I spent a bunch of time looking through my papers for the perfect background paper.  Finally I got frustrated enough that I decided, hey, maybe I'll just ink a white piece and then from there it turned into this.  I LOVE it!!!   I inked the inside edges too.

My brother-in-law is a Harley guy and looking through my cartridges I didn't have much to work with there. So I used a the motorcycle chick from Rock Princess and just cut the girl off .  I'm not completely happy with how this turned out but here it is anyway. 

Moral of the story.... I LOVE my Rock On card!!!   Yay!!  :) :)
