JOB UPDATE!!!

with 5 comments

First let me say, I’m working on my rant, it should be posted tomorrow.

So I’m on my way home from work yesterday and my phone rang.  It was the lady who emailed me about the job.  I was a little shocked, mainly becuase I wasn’t expecting it.  She told me that they want to offer me the job.  I hesitated and then asked if there would be a second interview because nobody discussed salary.  She said that they were all impressed with me and there was no need for a second interview.  We discussed salary and then she told me to think about it over the weekend.

I’ve been thinking and thinking and thinking and I’m pretty sure that I’m going to take the job.  It’s not going to be easy telling my boss that I’m leaving.  I’ve been working there for 9.5 years, I’ll probably cry.  But there comes a time when you have to do what is right for you.  I’ve been living with uncertainty for far to long and while no job is stable these days, this is as close as it gets.

Prepare yourself for a rant here later today.  I’m too busy with work right now to blog it but believe me …it’s coming!

Hint: NY Gov. Spitzer is going to allow illegal immigrants to obtain a NYS drivers license!  Hello …what part of illegal don’t they get?

Victory!

I came into work this morning, looked at the mouse trap and found one dead critter.  Sorry buddy but you had to go.  I’m sure there are more around but right now I’m satisfied with my win!

It’s going to be a good day!

Mystery Grips Town after Sisters Die 6 Days Apart

with 2 comments

CENTERVILLE, Ind. (AP) — Weeks after two teenage sisters died six days apart in a house only yards from his own, John Lickfelt still wonders if there’s a killer on the loose.

Erin and Kelly Stanley were found dead or dying this month in the home they shared with their parents. Since then, authorities have released virtually no information, fueling stories and theories in the small eastern Indiana town.

“It’s just rumors right now. It’s very, very quiet. I’ve got a wife and two little kids and I’d like to know if I should be worried or not,” Lickfelt said.

Nineteen-year-old Erin’s death has been ruled a homicide, and a search warrant affidavit suggests officers suspect that her 18-year-old sister, Kelly, may have also been killed.

Mouse trap!

with 5 comments

OK …who has it out for me?  First it’s the decaying mouse in my walls.  Now it’s a mouse at work.  This one is alive and fast!  I got up and out of my cube, turned the corner and zoom …he crossed my path.  He was little and cute but I screamed like a girl.  I’m not proud.  You would scream too if you weren’t expecting it.

War has been declared!  It’s me or the mouse and I need to pay the bills.  We have a trap down with some fake bait.  Not convinced that that would work so well, I placed the rest of my single serving of peanut butter down near the trap.  He’ll eat well before he goes.

I smell a rat …

with 2 comments

Well, not a rat but a dead mouse.  ICK!  I recognize the smell from several years ago.  Damn things, they get in the walls and then can’t find their way out.  This means that they die and rot in the wall where I can’t get to them.  So gross, you have no idea.  This is what I get for leaving my cat at my moms.  He went there during my re-construction last summer and stayed on, my grandmother grew fond of him.  He makes her happy while I sit here smelling a rotting mouse.  Ah, he probably wouldn’t have caught the dumb mouse anyway.

I am …

with 2 comments

I am going to accomplish the tasks that I have assigned myself for the weekend, damnit!  Every day I tell myself the same thing, you’re going to pick up this house and get it in order.  And every day I completely ignore what I set out to do.  This vicious cycle must come to an end!  I don’t know why I put things off, I have good intentions.  So today, I put my foot down!

I WILL finish what I need to do, starting with my homework.  BLAH!  You would think that since I’m so close to finishing my degree that I would be able to focus knowing that there’s an end in sight.  Nope, not me, I’m off in la-la land thinking about what I can do next.  Time to stop the insanity, get back to reality woman!  Two more sessions to go and I will have my bachelors in software engineering.  WOO HOO!

Once the homework is completed I will tackle the mess that is my house.  OK, it’s not THAT bad but the basement is in dire need of organization.  Time to get rid of all the crap I haven’t touched in years.  Why do I keep this crap?  If I was smart, LOL, I would have a yard sale.  Well I am smart but I don’t have time for a yard sale so the decent crap will go to good will and the useless crap will be tossed in the garbage.  From there I will attempt to organize, my main challenge is the holiday decorations.

With the basement complete I will move to the main floors of the house.  A good clean sweep is needed before the long winter settles in.  That way I can concentrate on lounging on the couch watching Holiday movies while sipping hot cocoa.

I will call this …Mission Impossible!

Organization

I need to get my house in order.  What’s that Jewish holiday where you have to clean out your entire house?  When is that and how can I convert?
