WELCOME TO ILLINOIS ARCS
The Illinois Advanced Research Center at Singapore Ltd. (Illinois ARCS) is an affiliated Singapore company of the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign (Illinois), with its research center led by Illinois faculty and a Singapore-based research and administrative team. Its currently funded programs, Trustworthy and Secure Cyber-Plexus for Digital Communities (TSCP-DC) and the Centre for Precision Fermentation and Sustainability (PreFerS) focus on breakthrough innovations in interactive cyber-infrastructures and precision fermentation-based food production, respectively.
The research center was launched under the Illinois’ initial affiliated company, Illinois at Singapore Pte. Ltd. in 2009 to strengthen the digital sciences, research, and technology landscape in Singapore. It served as a landmark collaboration between the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and the Agency for Science, Technology, and Research (A*STAR) to represent a decisive step towards building a better future against the backdrop of the global financial crisis. In 2017, a significant milestone was reached when the center was invited to join the National Research Foundation’s Campus for Research Excellence and Technological Enterprise (CREATE).
