I have been designing and maintaining websites for a number of years now. I basically just decided it was something I would enjoy doing and taught myself, learning some HTML along the way, and now working with some CSS. There are resources all over the Internet that can help almost anyone learn to put their own web page together. However, simply knowing how to build a page is not enough. Website To Dos gives a handy checklist to go through before you even start. That first one Decide Your Goals and Audience, is a big one. Knowing what you want to accomplish with your website and who you want to reach with the site will help determine the kind of site you build. I don't always do that. I just jump right in. The next item on the list? Focus Pages. Yeah, I need to do that too.
Once you've put your website together, the rest of the list will help you determine if your site is the best it can be. It is easy to overlook the items on this checklist, especially if you didn't know they were important. I admit, there are several things on this list that I haven't been checking on the pages I have built. I didn't know I needed to. The nice thing about lists like Website To Dos, is that you don't have to know everything. Bookmark this list as a resource, and use it to check your site. That's what I'm going to do.
