Hollowbrook Homestead

This house was presented at DRD’s Hollowbrook Advent Event 2025.  If you didn’t make the advent and hunt — then you missed out on some great gifts and a beautiful walk-through experience of very meticulously decorated homes for Christmas.  The neighborhood was a winter wonderland.  Snow lined the streets and the roofs of every home and car and despite all that it was a beautiful atmosphere of Christmas spirit and cheer.  It was very well done and one of my all time favorites things to do and see this holiday season.  It’s a must see if you haven’t gone as it is still open.  This new release is a classic American farmhouse with lots of room for you to enjoy.   Please visit the HISA Flickr for more details and go see it.

Christmas lights brighten the dark days of winter

As a home and garden blogger for many years you might can imagine how big of an inventory I have.  It’s pretty huge and I do not remember everything that I own. In fact I love those stores that have their vendor set to let you know that you already own that item.  It’s saved me a pretty penny and also shows how much I enjoy that item even if it gets buried in my inventory for a duration.  When time allows I continue to clean, organize and delete items and as well rediscover things as if they were new.

Especially, during the holidays and each Christmas season I look forward to seeing what new holiday decor comes out.  I was so happy to see this beautiful sofa in an antique gold color, the Christmas tree in colors of crimson and green and also the rug in green.  They are from *TRB* -A Woman’s Touch, a boutique for antiques, romantic and period decor.  The three pieces are just a few of a bigger selection of Christmas decor set out on sale this weekend for Wanderlust.

Bricolage has some cute Christmas books at her store as a free gift to her customers.  The other store I want to also  mention is LouChara, who has some nice gifts available as part of her Advent this year and you do not need to be a group member.

Out in the middle of nowhere…

This post is full of pictures.  I took dozens more, though these were the ones I took some time to do minimal editing.   I’m showcasing a new release by DRD, the cabin and previous release by Studio Skye.

Now there is a lot more to this release than just the cabin, though for this picture I am only showing the cabin.  If you visited Nightmare at Elm Creek, you might have seen this cabin.  Harrison Hackett is known as a bit of a hoarder and lives in the back of the woods there.  Visit UBER to see the hoarding that Hackett has acquired over the years.

I have been really enjoying doing more landscapes lately, so was really happy to also show one of the last releases by Studio Skye.  The Rock & Wave Building set.

There are a lot of pieces to this building set, shore rocks and wave formations, offshore pieces included, reefy sand bar, lots of rock components, wave swirls, individual splash pieces and a pack of sandy terrain textures.  I also used items from various different sets to create the idea of a small island in the middle of the ocean — miles of water from every angle.

The beauty of the sets that it really gives you the flexibility to create what you want to fit your space, small or big.

Each year around this time DRD comes out with a lot of releases, including a massive one accompanied by a hunt.   A Nightmare on Elm Creek takes you back to 1989, where you can help solve the gruesome murder mysteries that took place there.
