State Gymnastics Meet

Friday evening was Jackson's state meet.  This is his team ranging from level 4 to level 10.  They all did a wonderful job on all events except the pommel.  The pommel was very slippery and wobbly, so almost all the boys (on all the teams) fell off at least once during their routines.

There were only four level 7's competing this year, and they were split by age groups, so Jackson and his buddy Jake were the only two.  Jackson took first in every event except pommel, which Jake was so excited.  He had the biggest smile on his face when he stood on first for pommel and said "I beat Jackson!"  Jackson ended up taking 1st in all around, therefore making him the state champ in his group :).  His score ended up being an 84.6, which was about what he got in Portland.  That is a wonderful score!

Regionals is in Tacoma next Saturday.  We are excited to see him perform there!!!
Good Luck buddy!

Maren Turns Eight

Unfathomable!  Maren turned 8!
She has been waiting for this day for a very, very long time.  She is excited to start going to Activities Days, get baptized with her cousin Randon, and get a blog!
Image
Friday was her birthday, but we were going to be out of town for Jackson's state meet, so I told her she and I could take a day off of school and go skiing.  Wednesday was the day, and what a perfect day it was.  It had snowed a lot the day before, it was very sunny, and oh so warm.
She likes going down the easier run, Miami Beach, and does very well, but she did go down two or three harder green runs.  She did fabulous, especially with the amount of snow that wasn't groomed (video at the bottom of post).

Just as we were leaving, the clouds started coming in and started to cool down, so this picture looks a little foggy.  I love this picture of her walking down the steep stairs to the car with a hot chocolate and the cooler.

Friday morning, before we left for Missoula, Maren opened her presents.  She loved her temple picture, along with her new quad scriptures, a swimming suit that she had tried on and loved, so I went back to get it, and some fun spring and summer clothes.  Oh, ya, can't forget the bike that she opened the night before because she couldn't wait to ride it before she went to bed...

Sunday evening, Amy and the kids came over for a little dinner and cake.  Sam, Clint and Randon went to Tropic for the week, so they weren't there.   We had grilled cheese sandwiches, chips, curly fries, canned peaches and pears, and a relish tray.  Maren's choice.  It was quite yummy and not too hard to make :)

The kids called each other to wear black.  They played Ninjas and Spies
It was fun to watch.  They were so cute.

Kenny and Sedley came over for a little bit too, it was fun to see and talk with them for a few minutes.
Maren is a smart, happy, and caring girl.  I'm so blessed to have her as a daughter.
 I love you!!!

Portland Gymnastics Meet

What a fun time we had watching Jackson compete today.  Gymnastics is a funny thing.  One or two falls can change everything.  Today, Jackson was on.  He took 2nd in All Around!
Image
As they started in 15th place, and the score was 69.2, I knew he would be up there a little ways, because his All Around score was 84.85.  They kept calling... 10th place, 74.8...
Image
5th place 78.5, 4th 78.8, 3rd 80.0... then they said "in 2nd place with an 84.85 Jackson Pollock!"

He took 1st in vault, 2nd in Pommel Horse and P Bars and 3rd on floor.

Later, we went to the waterfront, walked around and got some pictures.
 I love these two boys!
Dana and Kelli came up from Wyoming to stay with Sammy, Aliza and Maren.  I think they have been having a fun time.  I am so thankful for them for helping out.  I hope it wasn't too bad.

Stuck on the airplane

Sam, Jackson and I were on the plane heading for Portland this morning at 6 am and ended up staying on the ground for 2 1/2 hours before we were able to take off.  It was foggy and I guess the visibility wasn't good enough for the plane to take off.

We missed our connecting flight in Salt Lake, but the airline was good enough to get us another flight later that day.  I'm glad we made it safe and there were no other problems along the way.
