In a newsletter edition about “stakes” in storytelling, Charlie Jane makes an observation about another storytelling thing that put me in mind of one of my favorite examples, which then put me in mind of a question.

As I’d observed, more or less, in my adult function report for Disability Determination Services, whatever else might be disabling for me day-to-day, the unpredictability of autistic burnout makes ongoing, longterm efforts untenable. As a recent example, I noted that my goal of maintaining daily walks had been on hiatus since September of last year.

The world being what it is, I never did come back to give an update on my adult function report which was requested by Disability Determination Services as part of the application for Supplemental Security Income. This is a story in five parts.

Late last month, I indicated that at some point later this year, the portland.or.us locality zone should be freed up for registrations. New information from a different locality suggests it might not be so simple after all.

Last year, I was invited to participate in “Firefly and Serenity: A History of the Fandom 20 Years Later”, a panel which took place at Rose City Comic Con, on the basis of my having founded the global, if locally-distributed, Can’t Stop the Serenity fandom charity event. The panel coincided with the twentieth anniversary of the release of the feature film followup to the cult television series.
