what happens when 4 grown women get together after a long day of work at the office on a wednesday night? they go to disneyland…even if it’s just for an hour.

it only took me 6 years of living in california + a groupon for boat tickets for me to FINALLY visit catalina! and it was glorious! perfect weather + amazing friends + gorgeous views. you can’t beat that!

BOMB:

crashed a kid’s soccer game for one of these bad boys:

thank the heavens (and dramamine) i did not get sea sick! after a breezy one-hour boat ride, we arrived in beautiful avalon! with only 6 hours of play time on the island, we made the most of our trip. went straight for the kayaks, found a sunken ship, grubbed on some fish & chips, raided a candy/ice-cream shop, toured the island on golf carts, crashed a kid’s soccer match for some shaved ice, found a disney store, grabbed some drinks on the beach, and met a deer. it was a perfect day-vaca!

Summer has officially come to an end…but NOT IN CALIFORNIA! Woot! It’s summer year-around and that’s how I like it. Seasons? Pfffft. Seasons don’t build character. SUNSHINE does! Oddly enough, living in SoCal does not translate to endless pool and beach days as one might think. Blame it on my mother, but her years of ~~nagging~~ gentle reminders to stay out of the sun, apply sunscreen, and wear hats have finally caught up to me. (See my previous post here to see what I’ve become when it comes to sun worshiping.) Since it has been warming up lately (88º this Saturday!), it was nice to enjoy the sun a little poolside. And by enjoy, I mean wearing sunglasses, a big floppy hat, camped under an umbrella. I think I will invest in one of these bad boys next:

my car’s 5th birthday must have come and gone, because i received a nice little note from the DMV reminding me that my smog check was due. all my fellow californians know exactly what i’m talking about. there’s nothing like spending a beautiful saturday afternoon at an auto shop and spending $40 on something that i can’t even wear or eat. BOO.

$40 and 2 hours later….i passed! although a pain in the bum, it seems pretty necessary. out of the top 10 smoggiest cities in the US, 7 of them are in California (thanks CBS news). the land of sunshine, disneyland, and smog. no wonder i can’t run more than a few blocks outside! errr…sure…yeah…i’m blaming it on the smog 😛

I have never been interested in any type of meet-up group, but when it involves 140+ corgis running loose on the beach, it’s sort of a no brainer! Max & Mila (my 2 furry babies) had a blast & it was so stinking cute to see so many corgis in one place. I have to admit, we did lose Mila and misidentified her a couple times, but THEY ALL LOOKED THE SAME I TELL YA! Thank you, buzzfeed for the hilarious recap of the event. can’t wait for the next meet-up in a couple months. Corgi Nation!
