Inspiration

Have you ever had the sudden desire to try on different outfits but lack the time or energy to do so? Or go through your closet only to find that you only wear half of the clothes you actually own because half of them were hidden and got buried? Or even simply not had access to a full length mirror at home where you can view your full outfit? Many dress-up games focus on fantasy-themed, unrealistic clothes, but we value practicality with individual style. Maybe we can help you find a new outfit combinations you like, or help you decide what color sweatshirt to buy that would fit in with the rest of your wardrobe!

What it does

Our game allows a player create items in their wardrobe simply by selecting a design and color for their clothes. Colors are selected from a color wheel, allowing for more customization. The player can also customize the skin tone of the character using a skin tone color wheel. Once the items are added, the items will appear in the selection menus and the player can equip them onto the character to mix and match!

How we built it

Unity, C#

Challenges we ran into

We had some merge conflicts with each other while renaming files, which made us think we lost the project entirely for about an hour past midnight (very scary!). We also had to go into a lot of researching documentation and tutorials while learning more about Unity's various built in functions that we were less familiar with when trying to implement and debug scroll functionality and the color wheel mechanic.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are proud of creating a functional and useful program. We also learned a lot about implementing some more complex mechanics in Unity. And most importantly, we had fun!

What we learned

We learned that time management, project scope, and breaks are important when creating a project with a tight deadline. A good product also relies heavily on organized planning, which absolutely cannot be skipped!

What's next for Clothes It

Adding data persistence capabilities to allow for players to save their creations, either to a gallery or to a calendar system for daily use. We were also thinking of adding a generative AI feature to allow users to upload a picture of their clothes and automatically create an avatar version of it, which can allow users to represent their more unique clothes.
