Inspiration

Being honest, the challenge itself was also the main source of inspiration! The main idea was forming gradually but with such integrity that it could surprise even the experienced team. Seeing just how beautiful and whole the final idea is, filled us with inspiration and determination to make it come to life.

What it does

That's as simple, as it is powerful. You specify the starting point, the destination, and everything in-between. Then, you can (but don't have to) input any preferences in a free form. Something like "I'll go by my own car, want to spend as little fuel as possible and grab a coffee on the way". Magic happens and everything is right on your screen!

How we built it

We have split in two teams to deliver the best results in shortest time. One team has been creating and training AI, creating the backend and the other has been doing the frontend, main application functionality, presentations and descriptions.

Challenges we ran into

Building and training AI from scratch to be tailor-made and perfectly fit the needs of our application in terms of Natural Language Processing proved to be a challenging endeavor. We wanted to let users to enter their preferences in a free form and it was tricky to achieve.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Responsiveness: app is built with Flutter and Dart, making it cross-platform, fast, and flexible. Integrity: The application is built around Google ecosystem. It uses Google authentication, Google Voice Interaction API for voice input, two of Google Maps APIs to achieve the main objectives of a challenge. It all makes the system whole and easy-to-maintain. AI from scratch: We also build and train our own AI from scratch. It will be tailor-made to perfectly fit the needs of the application in terms of Natural Language Processing. This way, any user's input will be interpreted with incredible precision and included when building the route plan.

What we learned

Most importantly, we learned to achieve and overcome the requirements as a team. This certain challenge and the passion with the idea taught us to set the expectation from yourself as high as possible and not be skeptical about yourself. This way, you can make anything, even if it means building a revolutionary solution within 24 hours ;)

What's next for Forward!

We'd never come up with this awesome idea (that we're now burning with) if it wasn't for Hack Kosice. But now we won't let this fruit of our work and creativity be left off. We'll most definitely develop the ideas further on, making the things we have better, more beautiful, stable. In other words, Forward! will live on, have updates, etc. Who knows, maybe in some time, it will have it's place in your phone too!
