Inspiration
Our inspiration was dark souls’ difficulty and the theme making us want to make it about a fruit.
What it does
This game is a 2D platformer built in unity designed to make players mad and make them restart over and over again. It squeezes all of the mental durability out of everyone’s brain.
How we built it
We built it using Unity, sprites that we altered from AI, and free non-copyright sounds from pixabay. We built the tutorial first, then the main menu, then the actual fruit souls level.
Challenges we ran into
Some challenges we ran into was starting late due to not having laptops, 2mb/s download speeds on installing Unity and Unity Editor, installing visual studio code, computer frequently lagging and moments of little progress due to bugs.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
I am proud of the finished result and I think it captures a really good difficulty that we aimed for.
How it connects to the theme
It connects to the theme because the player is a lemon that constant has juice squeezed out of him for doing actions and taking damage. The game also squeezes at your mental durability by rage baiting you in the death screen and being fairly difficult. The player’s life force is slowly squeezed away as well because you start the rot the longer you’re in the level.
Lore
The lore of the game is that a child like being is forcing you (a sentient lemon with stick limbs) to complete very hard challenges and he makes it ever so harder for you by limiting you and rage baiting you when you die many different ways.
