Inspiration

Our inspiration stems from a harsh, silent reality in Peru: The "Zip Code Sentence." In regions like the Amazon and Huancavelica, a girl's mental health is neglected not by choice, but by a 70% deficit in specialists. With only 3 psychiatrists per 100,000 inhabitants (MINSA 2024), we realized that traditional clinical models would never reach the most vulnerable. We were inspired by the resilience of rural girls and the need to "camouflage" high-stakes psychological triage within a tool they actually want to use: Financial Autonomy.

What it does

PROTEGIDAS is a high-fidelity digital sanctuary that redefines social engineering. It operates as a dual-purpose ecosystem:

For the Girl: A gamified "Financial House" where she learns to save and plan. Here, she interacts with Anie, an empathetic AI proxy (her favorite animal) that uses natural dialogue to screen for emotional distress and behavioral risks.

For the Specialist: A professional dashboard that translates AI-detected patterns into a "Wellness Skeleton" (Radar Chart), allowing psychiatrists to perform remote, "at-a-glance" diagnostics in areas with zero physical medical presence.

How we built it

As a multidisciplinary team of 4 women, we built a Mobile-First PWA (Progressive Web App) designed for the "Edge":

  • Frontend: Built with HTML5, Tailwind CSS, and Glassmorphism for a premium yet lightweight feel on low-end devices.

  • Intelligence: Developed a heuristic risk-detection engine using JavaScript to identify linguistic shifts and behavioral red flags.

  • Data Viz: Integrated Chart.js to render the biometric "Wellness Skeleton."

  • Strategy: Applied TAM/SAM/SOM market modeling and a B2G/B2B subscription model to ensure the project is economically sustainable beyond the hackathon.

Challenges we ran into

The biggest challenge was the "Paradox of Surveillance." How do you protect a girl in a high-risk environment without making her feel "watched" or putting her in danger if an aggressor sees the app? We solved this through Strategic Camouflage: the app is externally a "Fintech" tool for education. Another hurdle was the Digital Divide; we had to ensure the architecture was Offline-First, allowing Anie to work even when the internet in the Amazon fails.

Accomplishments that we're proud of Shipping a Real Solution: We moved from a raw MINSA statistic to a functional MVP with a high-fidelity UI in record time.

Interdisciplinary Synergy: Bridging the gap between Industrial Engineering and Economics to create a product that is both technically robust and market-viable.

The "Anie" Proxy: Creating a non-invasive AI persona that effectively builds trust with children aged 6-17, neutralizing the stigma of mental health.

What we learned

We learned that Technology is only as powerful as its empathy. You cannot build for the Amazon from a desk in Lima without understanding geographic barriers. We also learned that as a team of four, our diversity of thought—from process optimization to economic sustainability—is our greatest competitive advantage. This hackathon taught us that we don't just build apps; we build resilient social infrastructure.

What's next for PROTEGIDAS

1. Technical Hardening (Q2 2026)

  • True Offline Sync: Implementing Service Workers for 100% functionality in zero-connectivity zones (Deep Amazon).
  • NLP Localization: Training "Anie" to recognize regional Peruvian dialects and slang for more accurate risk detection.

2. Strategic Pilot (Q3 2026)

  • SOM Launch: Deploying to 45,000 girls in Loreto and Huancavelica.
  • Specialist Onboarding: Partnering with 50+ regional psychologists to validate the "Wellness Skeleton" dashboard.

3. Financial Scaling (Q4 2026)

  • B2G/B2B Contracts: Closing licensing deals with Regional Governments (GORE) and mining ESG programs.
  • Blockchain Integration: Using Web3 for 100% transparent donation tracking for "Mental Health Seeds."
