In around 3 years, we will be voting for the next leader of one of the most powerful and influential countries in the world. This is a very big decision for everyone, as believers we should take a look at many things that the candidates stand for before making our decision and we should pray over it. Five issues that I will look at most while selecting my choice will be their outlook on wars and preventions of wars, what they believe about abortions and laws that they could make, how they will tax people and what they will do with the money, how they will deal with and change the healthcare program, and their religious views and beliefs.
1: Religion
The United States is considered a Christian nation, this label is something we should hold to as Americans. The leader we elect should also reflect what the majority of our country believes. I will elect a Christian President not only because I am a Christian, but also because there are many morals that we learn and hold to from the Bible. A Christian should understand and agree with many of my same beliefs on topics discussed by the government today, such as abortion and wars. Electing a Christian, will hopefully mean that he will hold to the same beliefs and understandings that I do. If I elect a non-believer and agree with all of the things that they say during election time, who knows how that would change in the future if they do not agree with the Bibles teachings.
2: Abortion
Abortion is a topic that can hit home for many of Americans. I believe that the government should make abortion under any circumstances illegal. The next president should address the facts that abortion is killing a human instead of just some tissue. Millions of abortions happen every year when there are other options for the mother to consider. One main alternative to an abortion is to give the child up for adoption and there are always couples looking to adopt. The next president needs to make it clear that abortion is wrong and it should be made illegal.
In Jeremiah 1:5 the Bible says. “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, and before you were born I consecrated you; I appointed you a prophet to the nations.” God tells us that even before we are conceived, He made us and had a purpose for us. If our next president could understand that and truly believe in the Bible, he would do something about all the abortions.
3: Wars
Within the last however many years, we were dealing with the war in Iraq that never seemed to end. When I am voting for a candidate I want him to not be completely against wars, but one that knows when it is right to get involved and when it is not okay. We should only be involved in just wars that are for our own nation and ones that are helping out a nation with a stable government and that we have a strong agreement with. There were so many American men lost in the war of Iraq that didn’t need to die, that is a tragedy I do not want to encounter in the near future.
In Ecclesiastes 3:8-9 it says, “A time to love, and a time to hate; a time of war, and a time of peace.” I believe that the next president should take this verse to heart and not be too quick to get involved in wars that we do not need to be involved in and to try to make peace and not war.
4: Taxes
One of the top issues voters are concerned about it taxes. If a president choses to put a tax that is too low, then the government will have much less money to deal with, but if they set it too high, they are hurting all of the tax payers. Many people want the tax to be lowered of course, but also the tax can not be too low or else many important things will be cut from government founding. Education, Welfare, taking care of national debt, and many more things will not receive the adequate amount of money to run properly. I want our next president to have the tax issue figured out and ready to go, finding a perfect medium between under founding and taxing the citizens too much. Once we find a good place where it satisfies the majority and also takes care of the founding that our country needs, we will be in a good place.
5: Healthcare
Another big topic that voters are paying attention for is what the government will do with healthcare. Recently there has been the launch of the Obamacare program that is getting criticized because of how poorly thought out it was and how the website had many problems. The president I will vote for next will hopefully trash that whole deal and build up a much better healthcare program that keeps its promises and will benefit the country as a whole. We must sort out the issues with the program and create one that will last and help us move forward instead of holding us back.
The current candidate that fits what I am looking for is Paul Ryan. He agrees on many of the things listed above, some were how life starts at conception, abortion should be made illegal, the current healthcare system should go, and many more.
Heres something I stumbled upon. Take a look if you’re bored, its entertaining.
