Bucket List

This 2 week bucket list we were challenged to make was a fantastic idea. I wrote down 7 things that i thought could be accomplished if i put in some effort, and i actually did a few of them!
One of the things on my list was to hang out with the guys more. This one was probably my favorite one because i had been pretty lazy recently. I hung out with the guys a few days a week and had a lot of fun! On this past monday night, a few of us had a sleep over where we stayed up past 2am playing xbox. This was very fun and it brightened my day. but also made me dead tired the next day.

Another thing on my bucket list was to not be such a douche. I kind of struggled with that one. Ive gotten in the habit of being very sarcastic and not the nicest person. It was hard to control what i was saying or how i was acting. I feel like i did a pretty good job at being nicer though. I had to hold back on what I was about to say a few times and remember that what i was going to say wasn’t very nice.

This is a bible verse that is all about being nice and kind to everyone. 1 Corinthians 13:4-7
Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful;it does not rejoice at wrongdoing, but rejoices with the truth. Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.
Heres another one.
Luke 6:35
But love your enemies, and do good, and lend, expecting nothing in return, and your reward will be great, and you will be sons of the Most High, for he is kind to the ungrateful and the evil.
And one more.
Matt. 6:1-34
“Beware of practicing your righteousness before other people in order to be seen by them, for then you will have no reward from your Father who is in heaven. “Thus, when you give to the needy, sound no trumpet before you, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, that they may be praised by others. Truly, I say to you, they have received their reward. But when you give to the needy, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing, so that your giving may be in secret. And your Father who sees in secret will reward you. “And when you pray, you must not be like the hypocrites. For they love to stand and pray in the synagogues and at the street corners, that they may be seen by others. Truly, I say to you, they have received their reward.

So yeah! Thats what the Bible says about being kind. It is something I’m glad i had made a goal for these last weeks of high school and i think ill continue it into summer and further into life. Thanks for reading.

Nihilism

“Nihilism comes from the Latin word nihil, meaning ‘nothing’ or ‘not anything.’ The most common definition and use of nihilism, is the belief in nothing or a rejection of objective truth, social conventions, and moral meaning.”
Nihilism can be found in all types of popular media; movies, tv shows, music…etc.

Here are a few examples of songs that I can see Nihilistic views in

#1 Dust in the wind by Kansas:
“I close my eyes, only for a moment, and the moment’s gone
All my dreams, pass before my eyes, a curiosity
Dust in the wind, all they are is dust in the wind
Same old song, just a drop of water in an endless sea
All we do, crumbles to the ground, though we refuse to see

Dust in the wind, All we are is dust in the wind

Don’t hang on, nothing lasts forever but the earth and sky
It slips away, all your money won’t another minute buy

Dust in the wind, All we are is dust in the wind”

In this song, we can see that it talks about how we are only dust in the wind. Our lives are virtually pointless and full of nothingness. We are just a drop of water in an endless sea, again this shows how our lives make no difference in the scheme of life. No mater what everything will crumble to the ground and nothing will last forever but the earth and sky. There are so many examples of nihilistic views in this one song! It is such a good song too.

#2 Smoke Marijuana by Sizzla

Chorus:

This song by Sizzla shows that if there is a problem ever, just to smoke pot and make yourself feel good and forget about those problems. It is saying that there is no point in anything or to worry about anything, so just waist your life being high the whole time.

#3 Not Afraid by Eminem

“I don’t give a DARN what you think, I’m doin’ this for me, so FRICK the word feed it beans…”

In this popular song by Eminem, this section of the first verse shows that he doesn’t care about the earth or anything. He only cares about himself and wont listen to anyone else.

#4 Another song that I can see a nihilistic view in is the song Rock and Roll all Night by Kiss.

In this song it is about them wanting to rock and roll all night and party every day. That seems to be the only reason for the song and it seems like the only thing they want to do. Having sex all night and partying every day is the life Kiss is singing about in this song. This is nihilistic because that is the only thing they want to do with their lives and that is the point of everything.

#5 And we Danced by Macklemore

This song by Macklemore is about dancing and laughing and just having a party. Throughout the song all it talks about is what happens at this party and how they want to just have fun and do crazy things. In the music video it shows Macklemore dancing and going crazy with the people, as well as him with girls.
