About the Hackathon

hackUMBC's Mini Hackathon is a 12-hour sprint challenging students to build creative, impactful projects from scratch. Whether you're a first-time hacker or a seasoned builder, this is your chance to solve real problems and showcase your skills.

Get Started

Sign up on Devpost and join our Discord to connect with teammates and mentors before the event. Make sure to review the submission requirements and judging criteria so you can hit the ground running on April 18th.

Requirements

What to Build

Build a 12-hour project that demonstrates genuine passion and tackles a meaningful problem, either big or small. We encourage creativity across any domain: health, education, sustainability, accessibility, productivity, or anything that excites you.

What to Submit

Submit your project on Devpost by the end of the 12-hour window with a GitHub repository, and a written description covering your inspiration, tech stack, and challenges faced. Incomplete submissions or projects started before the event will be disqualified.
