Truthball Cafe Fun And Getting Around The Grid

January 7, 2010

I was talking to Hibiscus the other night and as she likes trivia quizes I asked her if she had been to the Truthball Cafe.  She said she hadn’t so we went over for some fun.  It’s a cosy cafe with a glass orb in the middle of the coffee table, instead of being general knowledge though, you click on the orb and it asks you personal questions which you are supposed to answer truthfully.  We were joined by a couple of stangers who sat down to play the truthball with us and it proved to be quite a fun evening, I suppose it is a good icebreaker for someone on their own who wants to get chatting to other people.

Image

I think Hib enjoyed it and we will probably go back at some time.  Later on I met Drax and was telling him about a Jazz club in showcase, we went over to have a dance and catch up on lots of gossip, so it was a really nice evening.

I took all the Christmas Decs down from our little shop in virtual Kensington and Hib and I pondered over the new year, we decided that it may be a nice idea to sell pictures in the shop as well as having it as an office, so that is what we intend to do.  I want to shoot a selection of SL photos ranging from scenery right through to slightly exotic portraits, so I will be on the prowl with my camera, (as if I’m not already, lol).  Hib and I joined Ed in another sim that he had found with a very odd feature, there were large slabs of concrete laying around and the idea was to build a staircase.  You jumped on one slab and another appeared in front of you and you had to climb onto the next one to get the following stair, if you missed your footing the whole lot came tumbling down with you on it!!  Of course, Ed being very patient, reached the top, as after a few goes Hib and I had given up and stood nattering.

Back in the Kensington Office/shop last night,  friend Amourette came over to take a picture of Hib, Ed and me and she told us that she has started a blog too, so good luck Am, we are looking forward to reading it!!

I had brilliant news a couple of days ago too, I heard from fellow writer Pixi, who has been away from SL for some time because she has not been well.  I had been really worried about her so it was a big relief to get her message.  She does hope to join us again as soon as she can, and her place is still in the Trilogy Group with us and always will be.

Happy RezDay Hibiscus

October 3, 2009

Happy Rezday to the beautiful Hibiscus Hastings, it’s two years since she first came into SL and what would I do without her, my best friend as well as a fantastic writer!!  It was really nice today as both Boye and Drax came into SL and we managed to spend a short time at Phat Cat’s Jazz Club to celebrate Hibs day.  Hib had a lovely red gown on, looking like the Belle of the Ball!!

Fashion and Cowboys

September 21, 2009

Well it’s only Monday and it seems like Fashion week has been going on for quite a while to me, although it only started on Saturday.  Virtual London is putting on a great show every night and I have been so busy I can’t believe it.  If any of you people are IM’ing me while I’m at the shows, I must apologies if I don’t get back to you, I spend my entire time taking photos and sometimes crashing as a result, so sometimes I just can’t answer then and there.  So far the shows have been really nice and there may be a real life designer joining us further into the week, we will have to wait and see, but it is exciting news.   The show had started late on Saturday, with people not taking their seats etc and there was also a really good event at the Underground Club that evening.  They had a Cowboys and Indians night and people were getting all dressed up to win prizes.  I managed to go along for just half an hour as I was exhausted after the catwalk shows, but it was great fun to see all the cowboy and indian outfits and people dancing.  Seany the manager even had his horse in the club.

Friend and co-writer Ed Follet had a really good cowboy outfit on and looked like a cool dude!!  I got something from BareRose earlier, I really liked the hat best and that’s why I bought it, I’ll have to visit some Wild West sims just to wear it again!!

I hope they do another night like the Cowboys and Indians so that I can spend some more time having a dance, still onwards and upwards with the glamorous side of Virtual London, and more lovely fashions shows over the next few nights!

CNN Repoter Nicole’s Dance And Travelling By Helicopter!

September 4, 2009

It must be pretty hard for the CNN reporters Nicole Saidi and Henry Hanks to take the in-world meetings seriously sometimes.  After all they are not really SL’ers as such, they just come in as part of their job, so perhaps the lunacy of the avatars must be a bit strange for them at times.  Nicole took the Tuesday meeting this week and there were a few of the regulars there to hear about articles that have been reported on and what is of interest for the next few days.  As we talked we were joined by a couple of new people who did not sit down with the rest of us, but hovered overhead.  As Nicole tried to start the meeting one of them came down and started to dance in front of her and I have no idea what Nicole must have thought, more nutter avatars no doubt!!  Well she surprised me, she went right along with it, while I sat there thinking how rude the person was to do this to her, she said she would dance as well and invited any of us to join in.  We just watched, but it was so funny to see Nicole dancing around and even doing the splits at one stage.  I questioned the dancing man a bit, but he wasn’t saying much, they did give us a video link to watch, but it may have been better if they had just come along to the meeting to tell us what they wanted instead of griefing poor Nicole.  Well I say poor Nicole, she did really well and wasn’t going to be put off.  I expect when she logged off back into the real world she thought to herself ‘what the hell was all that about’  I wonder too as it happens!!

HELI NIC 2

HELI NIC 1

In SL Chelsea where I have my apartment, the Jazz Club across the road has a helicopter on the roof that anyone can fly if they want to.  I took it out the other day and was not very good with it.  I tried it again this morning and found I could control it a lot better.

HELI ONE

HELI TWO

Like SL Chelsea manager Rails Bailey says, (who put the copter there), it’s a quick way of getting around the sims, and it is.  Ok you still have the sim crossings to contend with, the out of control bit where you are pulled across the new sim and then dragged back before proceeding, but you can safely cross with the copter and it’s a lot of fun.   I even got good and landed it on the top of my apartment block before docking it back down on the Jazz Club landing area.

HELI THREE

HELI FOUR

I wonder if I can talk Hibiscus into coming for a spin in it with me, I know how much she loves being a passenger in my car, so I expect she will jump at the chance to fly with me!!

HELI FIVE

HELI SIX

I came back down through the Jazz Club and was surprised to see they have taken up the nice red carpet that they had down.  I wonder why, perhaps there were problems, but it’s a shame as it was dead posh before.  It will be nice when they get their times sorted out as well, as it’s set in SL London, all us Londoners are missing out so far, as all the Jazz Club sessions seem to be set in the middle of the night for us.  If they left some great music playing like the romantic stuff by Ella Fitzgerald and Frank Sinatra in between the dj events, I’m sure people would still go along for a dance whatever time of day or night.  It’s a nice venue and brand new so I hope they do well!!

Swoon! I Sure Did, Dance Chim Was Fun!!

June 11, 2009

I like to get away to explore some of the dance clubs around SL and there are quite a few, and they all seem to have nice regulars that go there who make you welcome.   I had a look at the Search menu last night and picked one that showed 60s, 70s, 80s, and 90s music.  It was called ‘Swoon’ and I teleported over.  I was greeted by the hostess and dj who invited me to join in the dancing.

A SWOON 1

A SWOON 2

There were a few people in the club and it got more crowded as the evening went on. One of the ladies dancing, Margie, requested a Robbie Williams song, Rock DJ, and said she would sing along to it.  Well my music stream cut out and it left me with Margie singing enthusiastically into her mic, so funny!!  She did well and kept me going till my music came back on, well done Margie!!!   I was then  invited to join the dance chim and there we were all dancing in time with each other, it was great!!

A SWOON 3

I stayed for quite a while and then decided to head back to SL London.  I wanted to check out the new Westminster Bridge that they are building next to Big Ben so I teleported over and took to the skies above the builders and little crowd.  I had had trouble stopping dancing when I left the club, but on my screen I looked normal.  I got an IM from Liz telling me I was flying and dancing at the same time, lol.  I tried to stop animations again from the menu, then from a gadget I have, but to no avail.  I decided to get my photos anyway and went ahead snapping.  Liz IM me again and said I was now stuck in my photo taking pose, good old SL!!  The only option left was to log out.  I wonder if I hold the record though, for simultaneously flying, dancing  and photo posing all in one go?

Lots of Clubbing!!

May 2, 2009

One of the really nice things in SL is the clubs, if you get one or two that play the sort of music you like and the crowd are nice, you’ve cracked it for a great night out in the virtual world!!  It would probably seem strange to people who have never tried SL to understand, but you can have such a lot of fun not only trying out all the dances but chatting as well. I usually pop into the Underground Club in SL Knightsbridge sometime during the evening to see who is there and what’s going on and it’s really good as I know the majority of the people now, and they really make the effort to make everyone welcome.  Friend Ruskin Thor has become quite a dj over the last few months and he has spread his wings a bit outside of SL London and dj’s at another couple of venues.  This week was the first time I had managed to get to one of his new gigs.  It was a club called Braveheart and a massive place inside, Rus had decided to have a best dressed spaceman night and for the life of me, I couldn’t find anything like that to wear, so opted for my jeans.  When I got there with Hibiscus I could see that there were lots of different outfits so that was ok.

Rus was down dancing with the rest of us as well as dj’ing, I have no idea how he kept up, but he did a really good job and his music was getting everyone in the mood.

The only thing is, that sometimes you get more than one event happening at the same time, and tonight will be a problem, as there is a great ‘do’ going on at the Underground Club and I’ve also got an invite to the 2nd Anniversary of Prim Perfect Magazine bash, which should be really lovely.  I will try to drop into the UGC for a while as I don’t want to miss what’s going on, they are having the Best in Beach Wear contest, so there should be some funny sights!!

Dance Envy!

April 6, 2009

Going to the Underground Club so often I get to see the different dances used by the hosts in there.  Brie Janick, who dj’s as well, has some great moves and I kept meaning to ask her where she got them. Brie always looks the business too with her converse boots and leg warmers, typical rock chick character.  I usually join in the line dance bit that has a dance called caramel, which is quite a laugh as we all do the same moves together until one or two of us fall out of sync with slower computers.  I finally got around to asking Brie the other night, where she went for her dances, and she gave me the landmarks.  I went off and tried them all out and bought one called ‘beat one’  a very fast shuffle type dance.  Coming back to the club I couldn’t wait to try it out.

I was enjoying myself as Boone was dj’ing and playing some old stuff, of course you got the usual newbie who thought he would come in just wearing underpants, but it’s all part and parcel of SL and quite funny.  He went straight over and stood next to Seth for some reason, Seth asked him to take a step back but he seemed oblivious, supposed we should be grateful he had his underpants on.

a-dancenewbie

Hibiscus came on line and I was about to call her over to the club and they changed dj’s for the night and the music isn’t really our taste, so I asked her if she wanted to go and try the dances to see if she wanted to get one.  Well what a laugh we had, I’ve never seen Hib move like that before, or me either come to that, we did cartwheels, got our legs up as high as our ears and all sorts as we lept from dance pad to dance pad trying out the variations.

We had such a laugh, both creasing up as we sat at our computers.  Hib didn’t actually buy one, saying she will have a think about it, there are so many to choose from.  I spotted a pole dance thing and even had a go at that, well so funny, so agile as I swung around and around on the pole.  Although I think I’ll leave that to the hosts in the clubs!

We never did find the exact dances Brie uses, but had fun trying them all out!!

All At Sea Then Clubbing Again!

February 27, 2009

SL does some strange things, I only tried to sit on the chair in my apartment and I went off into the sea with bits of someone else’s apartment.  I often wonder if the Lindens do this sort of thing for a laugh!  I tried going back into ‘appearance’ as this sometimes zooms you back to where you are supposed to be, but it didn’t work this time, even if it did, you still end up with a slide instead of a walk or a quick waddle and then a slide, oh well, re-log and hope for the best!!

c-clubsea

I’ve been trying not to spend lately, I can get carried away in SL, so many lovely things to buy and I have been trying to save a bit to keep Virtually London (Lite) ticking over, so I shouldn’t even have gone to the BareRose store, let alone buy anything.  But there it was this beautiful evening dress, so cheap and in about 4 different colours all for 15o Lindens.  Well as I was going out clubbing again (Ruskin was dj’ng in the Mayhem Club) I decided to treat myself.  Glad I did, it’s a nice dress and I can wear the other colours to other events.

Some of the Murray crowd were there at the club and it was lovely to see them, I must pop over to Murray soon, it’s been ages.  Captive and Treasure looked really glam, Cap had similar hair to me, only on her it looked really good, she has a knack of looking like an SL model, Treasure does as well, they both looked fantastic.  Little Nazna  turned up in a sort of wolf outfit and she said she was supposed to look evil.  Sorry Naz, you still looked cute!

c-clubcap

c-clubnaz

Hibiscus looked really great in a new dress too, she always has new clothes, having a real talent for shopping and getting lots of bargains from good quality places.  There was quite a crowd in the club, Ruskin did really well as a dj and looked like he was really enjoying himself as well.  We had a brilliant time and the Mayhem club was rocking!!

Happy Birthday Nazna

October 11, 2008

There seems to have been a bit of a change in the little girl I had first met in Murray, called Nazna Wingtips.  When I first met her she was a little demon who never spoke a word to anyone and used her coke machine weapon to fire whole coke machines at newbies blasting them away.  She used to run and play around people, skipping along or jump up in the air until she was sitting over your head, just to be annoying.  All this and not a word, although people spoke to her constantly they got no reply.  Nonetheless though, she became accepted in the Murray group and became a favourite with quite a few of us.  She did finally start talking to me a while ago, but only in IM’s and still not to all of the others.  Well yesterday was her real life birthday and there was little Naz finally talking to everyone and enjoying herself.  She had called us over to a beautiful sim called Joy Isle and it was a pure joy to look at.

Image

Hibiscus and Cher had gone on ahead of me and when I got there the lag was awful, so I could hardly move, but I got onto the platform built high in the tree and stood near the door looking into the treehouse at Naz and the rest of the party which included Captive, Roach, Nezna, Alfie, Sjet and Slowhand.  Naz looked really cute in her pale pink dress and they all sat in comfy chairs just chatting.

Image

Image

I went and sat outside on the balcony and Naz and the others followed, Naz and Slowhand danced and Hibiscus joined me at a table where there were plates of hot food and good wine.

Image

After sitting chatting to Hib for a while, she had to leave and go back to real life.

Image

Just as Hibs said goodbye Drax came on line and I asked him to join me.  He arrived and said Happy Birthday to Naz and sat down at the table.  It was lovely to see him as he has been really busy lately so we were able to catch up a bit.

Well we left Naz partying into the night and I hope she really enjoyed herself, Happy Birthday little one!!

SS Galaxy Night in Underground Club

September 27, 2008

Hibiscus and I had previously been invited to a night on the SS Galaxy and really enjoyed it with Debs Regent and all the London team.  Well they decided to have a Galaxy night at the Underground Club in SL London and the theme was formal dress but in black and white.  I rooted around in my inventory and found a white top and my favourite black skirt that I bought from Cher Demonge’s boutique ‘Bonjoure’.  But I had to go out and buy a pair of shoes, no hardship for me, I love shopping!!  Anyway Hib and I met up and she looked dead glam in a tux, so we went into the club and it was already rocking away with Seany as the dj and Brie as the hostess for the first part of the evening.

Image

There were lots of prizes for best dressed and people had gone to so much trouble, although some cheated and there were a few colours mixed in, they still all looked stunning.  Great music and a great night, the Club is so popular that Debs must be really proud of it, along with the rest of fantastic SL London.
