Sexy. Twisted. Consuming. From the #1 New York Times bestselling and award winning author Colleen Hoover comes “A standalone romantic thriller that is tragic, creepy, and brilliant!” -Mel Reader Reviews
Lowen Ashleigh is a struggling writer on the brink of financial ruin when she accepts the job offer of a lifetime. Jeremy Crawford, husband of bestselling author Verity Crawford, has hired Lowen to complete the remaining books in a successful series his injured wife is unable to finish.
Lowen arrives at the Crawford home, ready to sort through years of Verity’s notes and outlines, hoping to find enough material to get her started. What Lowen doesn’t expect to uncover in the chaotic office is an unfinished autobiography Verity never intended for anyone to read. Page after page of bone-chilling admissions, including Verity’s recollection of the night their family was forever altered.
Lowen decides to keep the manuscript hidden from Jeremy, knowing its contents would devastate the already grieving father. But as Lowen’s feelings for Jeremy begin to intensify, she recognizes all the ways she could benefit if he were to read his wife’s words. After all, no matter how devoted Jeremy is to his injured wife, a truth this horrifying would make it impossible for him to continue to love her.
Due to graphic scenes and mature content, this book is recommended for readers 18+.
MY THOUGHTS
My mind is so BLOWN away by this book I’m not sure I have any thoughts at the moment!
My understanding is that Colleen Hoover is a Romance novelist, and this was a step out of her comfort zone for her!
WOW!
I read this book in one sitting and 24 hours later, I’m still replaying parts of it in my mind!
I CANNOT get this book out of my mind!
I seriously don’t know what to think!
Is Verity as evil as we think? Or is Jeremy the bad one? He seems shady to me.
And Lowen? Is she as innocent as we think?
There were some parts of this book that I read with my jaw totally dropped to my chest.
There were times I had to put the book down for a minute and digest what I just read!
I hate to be obscene on my blogs, but the best word to describe this book is MINDF**K!
You really will think about this book for quite awhile.
Days later, you will still be mulling over it.
Now don’t get me wrong, it has an excellent conclusion.
You are not left hanging, however you are left with questions about things in the story simply because at this point, only the Author knows who is truly the evil one. Or…are there evil ONES?
This book does have some parts that may be difficult for some readers. It is suggested for 18 and up.
However, if you were able to handle the book “YOU” by Caroline Kepnes, you can certainly handle this one!
If you read it, let me know your thoughts and join me on Facebook at the Verity Discussion Group!
