Catch Up

Image

Before I hop on a plane tomorrow for more summer adventures, I have to play catch up on the blog.  Excuse the randomness.  :)

First attempt at dressing herself, not bad.

First ponytail!  Now she won't even let me touch her hair.  Even combing it in the morning is a feat.

This girl loves, loves, loves her blankets.

Bridget, back to detesting water.

We went to this great little indoor playground last week with the Irions.  We had the place almost entirely to ourselves.  It was wonderful.  This little girl very much enjoyed herself, but she is looking way too old in this picture for my liking.

Marshall's attempt to smile with his eyes open.  :)

Cute little Charlotte wanted Bridget next to her in their respective toys.  You should hear her say Bridget; it is darling.

At almost 16 months we finally upgraded Bridget to a bigger carseat.  Do you think she was excited?!

Playgroup outing to a little farm in Mequon.  It was a hit.

These two are destined for each other,; they just don't know it yet.

Alright, the blog is updated.  Time to pack.   :)

4th of July

This was our first time in three years that Richard was around for the entire 4th of July!  That alone was cause for celebration.  :)

We began the day in the heat for the Wauwatosa Parade.

Bridget loved all of the bands that marched in the parade and Marshall loved the street sweeper at the end.

After sweating off about five pounds watching the parade, we came home and promptly set up the slip n'slide at 10:45 in the morning.

Bridget, the bathing beauty.

Beginning to test out the water.  In just a matter of minutes she was more wet then her brother.

For some reason, Marshall was more skeptical then the day before.  I think he is much more adventurous when his friends are around.

First time down the slide.

Image
Marshall had been refusing to go more than halfway down the slide.  So, we were mean parents and Richard tricked him and gave him a push just before he went down.  As you can tell, Marshall was less than thrilled with this idea.

Still trying to recover from the push.

Bridget started trying to slide down the grass.  Didn't work as well.  :)

After about 11:30 I stopped documenting our day with the camera, but let me assure you, it was a good one.

Richard made us a delicious lunch of pancakes.  :)  We relaxed the afternoon away and I even got a nap in!

Our evening was filled with friends and a BBQ.  Couldn't have been better.

Slip n'Slide

We decided to splurge and buy a $5 slip n'slide for the summer.  :)  Bridget tends to be anti-water, unless she's in the bath, so I thought this might ease her into things this summer.  Well, we finally got around to pulling it out this week and as Bridget's luck would have it, she was taking her nap and missed out on this fun afternoon.  Instead we invited our friends, Grace and Duncan Irion, over for the afternoon.  These three kids had a grand afternoon.

Little Duncan Irion is the most animated kid that I know.  This kid never fails to crack me up.

After a few times down the slip n'slide, Marshall opted to get off about halfway down.  What a nut.

They loved covering up the water holes; thought it was hilarious.

It was a great way to spend a HOT afternoon!

A Visit From Grandpa Bob And Grandma Becky

Last week we were lucky enough to have a visit from Richard's parents.  Richard had five days off of work between his transitional year at St. Joe's and beginning radiology at MCW, so it was perfect timing.  We loved having Richard around so much, and having grandparents here made it even better.  We packed our days with fun, so here are the highlights.

We went to Green Meadows Petting Farm the first day they were here.  This was a fantastic place and I'm so glad I had heard about it from friends.  We spent about four hours there, and if it wasn't so hot, I'm sure we could have spent more.  It was such a great place and both of the kids loved, loved, loved it.

Carrying the basket full of chicks.  I must admit that I was very surprised that Marshall was so willing to touch the animals.  He did a great job.

Pigs are so ugly in real life.

Having been a nursing mother two times now, I felt SO bad for this poor cow.  What a life.

Picture of the day!  I will never complain about a bad hair day again.

Love Bridget's face in this picture.  :)
Bridget's favorite thing was the little baby goats.  We were able to go in their pen and as soon as we set Bridget down she just started jabbering away.  As many of you know, Bridget is not a talker so to hear this jibber-jabber was pretty hilarious.  Unfortunately, we didn't get the best parts on video, but here's a pretty good one.

I also need to document that brave little Bridget did the pony ride and loved it.  Marshall had been talking about it all day, but when the time came he chickened out and we couldn't do a thing to get him on that pony.  :)

The next activity we were on to was a trip to the Jelly Belly Factory and a day at the outlets.

We also took a trip to Monkey Joe's and these kids played their hearts out.  Bridget has a favorite slide, but of course she is too small to climb up by herself.  For an hour and a half the four of us took turns taking her up and down that thing.  I think she had the most fun with Grandpa Bob who started throwing in some bounces before they went down.

I have been trying to get Marshall to do this little obstacle course by himself for months, finally success!

Later that night we went to AJ Bombers for some delicious hamburgers.

Not pictured activities were:

*Trying out Richard's new fire pit with some delicious smores.
*An evening of taking the color personality tests.  We shared some good laughs with all of that.  :)
*Much relaxing, many games, and great conversation.

Thanks for the visit Grandma Becky and Grandpa Bob!  We love you guys!
