Weekend at Goose’s

Amanda, Addy, and I have had a lot of fun the last couple of weekends with family. Addy’s cousin Olivia was baptized in Logan two Saturday’s ago (congrats) and thanks to Scott and Brandee we made quite the day of it afterwards.

DISCLAIMER: The following couple of pictures may be offensive to some who read this blog. Navigate away at this time if you must. You all should probably know that I grew up a die hard BYU fan, and now, thanks to conferences splitting, I will be able to cheer for both my favorite teams.

Anyway, we were given tickets to the BYU-Hawaii game in Salt Lake. It was a lot of fun. Great seats, fun game, and really good company.

ImageWe were down low enough that Cosmo came by us a couple times. Scott tells me that the guy from the Old Spice parody is Cosmo. Addy thought he was pretty cool.

Temple Square was also on our agenda, but due to rain and a Tucano’s coma, we waited until Thursday to go walk around and see the lights.

Addy was excited to see all the animals in the nativities.

She is acting like she is listening to someone speak at General Conference.

After all the fog and inversion in the Basin the last few days, St. George was a welcome break. Angela and Aaron have been trying to get us down there for months now and life just kept getting in the way. We finally made it down though and had a great couple days with them. Aaron always has fun places to go hiking and exploring and my two nieces are adorable. Amanda could have stolen Nora and brought her home. Eliza and Addy had fun. Who knew a Luv Sack could provide for so much amusement.

One of the places the Averetts took us was to a slot canyon with a bunch of indian writing on the walls.

ImageWe let Addy lead us back to the car finding the cairns along the path. She did really well and had her little sidekick right at her side the whole way.

Thanks Scott, Brandee, Angela, Aaron, Eliza, and Nora for some really fun days away. Brandee, we’ll drive out of our way anytime to have dinner with you guys. That stuff was delicious. Thanks again.

Random 2010 Post: Addy’s Dance Recital

So you may have noticed that we have really fallen behind on our blog. In an attempt to catch up a little bit, I am going to be adding a random post from the last year every now and then amongst the regular posts to come.

So to start it off, here are a few pictures from Addy’s dance recital back in June. She was excited to have her Grandma and Grandpa Merkley home so they could come watch along with the Putnams.

Daddy’s little helper

While we bide our time here in Tridell, Addy has been a great little helper with the chores and changing the wheel lines. We are hanging out at my parents while they are on a short term mission in Armenia, but will be moving into a rental in Vernal (ugh, shoot me now) later this week. Anyway, it has been fun to show Addy some of the fun things we used to do to make changing water a little funner. Here are a few pictures I took with my phone while out with her….

Image

Riding in the wheel. She screamed bloody murder the first two times around and then loved it.

Image

Image

Tonight she practically changed the line by herself. She is running the mover and counting the rotations. I should pay as close attention as she does.

Turning the water on.

Before we headed out to the fields. Mak was apparently camera shy.

And an unrelated bonus picture……………..

Amanda’s sexy lawn mowing outfit!

November 2009

I was looking back at our pictures and realized that there were a lot there that I wanted to get on the blog, but hadn’t taken the time to yet. So, here is November in one quick post.

Thanksgiving was supposed to be spent with Josh’s family, but since Grandma and Grandpa M were still in Myanmar, Josh’s aunt and uncle invited us to join them. They have 10 kids who are married and have children. Josh’s family has 8 kids who are married and have kids. So, it was decided that we would have Thanksgiving dinner at the church. It was so much fun.

All of the kids. It amazing how fast they become friends.

There were lots of activities planned. We were trying to make dream catchers and no I didn’t have any idea what I was doing.

Thanks to all of Clifford and Joann’s family for inviting us to join them. It was a very memorable Thanksgiving and I know that we all enjoyed ourselves.

Well that’s it for November. Maybe I’ll get caught up while I’m out on the farm, but who knows. I’m enjoying my time here too much to spend a lot of time in front of the computer. ๐Ÿ™‚

Dancing and Basketball

The week before Thanksgiving we had the chance to go watch Addy participate in two of her favorite things. It was parents day at dance lessons and the skills challenge to wrap up her time with the rec. department’s basketball program (which her mom helped coach). It amazed me the progress she has made over the last year. She is growing up too fast.

First a little dance…

Image

This is about the only decent picture we got of her. Our camera takes wonderful pictures outside, but leaves much to be desired when trying to capture the moment indoors.

Then a little basketball…

Amanda, Addy, and the rest of the team.

Addy doing the passing challenge with her proud momma looking on.

Image

Addy doing the shooting challenge. Funny story about this one…Addy didn’t exactly get her mom and dad’s athletic ability. Instead she got some random artsy gene that must be recessive in Amanda and I. She loves to play ball, but struggles at times. This shot was her first ever made basket. Timed event or not, she about leaped out of her shoes from excitement and forgot to hurry to try to make more. She was so happy!

Image

The team got first place in the relay races, and they all got the obligatory participation ribbon. Kudos to the New Castle Rec. Department for actually awarding first, second, and third place ribbons in the events, instead ofย  the “yeah, you’re all winners” hogwash.

Addy’s First Grade Picture

Got these back today. Needless to say, we are pretty happy with them (even if she has her tongue sticking out her toothless grin!).

Chicken Little’s Little Sister

So now that November is halfway over, I will put up some Halloween pictures. The cavity inducing holiday was spent this year in Cache Valley celebrating the baptism of my nephew Nicholas. It was really good to go to one of these family functions. We were able to see some of our family we had not seen for over a year. Here are a couple pictures of Addy and her costume. I took some the day before at school, but they did not turn out so well. Nothing that day at school turned out so well. Amanda and I were “those” parents. That is a long and embarrassing story that I am sure no one wants to hear.

Addy and her cousin Nicholas at the trunk-or-treat. Thanks Amy and Danny for a great time.
