The Project

KeePassXC is a modern, secure, and open-source password manager that stores and manages your most sensitive information.

You can run KeePassXC on Windows, macOS, and Linux systems. KeePassXC is for people with extremely high demands of secure personal data management. It saves many types of information, such as usernames, passwords, URLs, attachments, and notes in an offline, encrypted file that can be stored in any location, including private and public cloud solutions.

How to Get Started

Our Getting Started Guide walks you through the steps of downloading and installing KeePassXC for Windows, macOS, or Linux. Additionally, many Linux distributions ship their own versions, so in that case please check your distribution's package list.

Certified Security

KeePassXC 2.7.9 has been awarded a security Visa by the French National Cybersecurity Agency (ANSSI).

The security Visa has been awarded for passing ANSSI's First-level Security Certification (CSPN). The certificate demonstrates that KeePassXC has been tested for complying with security standards set by ANSSI, and it is recognised in France and in Germany.

KeePassXC 2.7.12 released

Today, we are releasing KeePassXC 2.7.12 with several bug fixes and some enhancements.

KeePassXC now supports {TIMEOTP} as an Auto-Type placeholder, the browser access confirm dialog now shows matched URLs in a tooltip, we added support for nested folders in Bitwarden imports, and Passkeys now store their backup elegibility (BE) and backup state (BS) flags. We also added mitigations to prevent DLL injection attacks via malicious OpenSSL config files on Windows.

Today, we are releasing KeePassXC 2.7.11 with many bug fixes and enhancements. We are also very happy to announce that a previous version (2.7.9) has received a security Visa for passing the First-level Security Certification (CSPN) by the French National Cybersecurity Agency (ANSSI).

Managing a popular open source project is a lot of work and can be very rewarding. This is especially so for a security-critical application such as KeePassXC that enables people around the world to protect their most sensitive information. As such, we have implemented a robust quality control process that ensures all code merged into production is thoroughly reviewed, tested, and signed off on.

Today, we are releasing KeePassXC 2.7.10 with many bug fixes and enhancements. The most prominent changes are the addition of a Proton Pass importer and (due to popular request) a new setting for changing the application font size. Other additions in this release are nicer icons in the password strength column, a character count in the password generator, toolbar buttons for quick access to database settings and statistics, a new MIXED case preset for the passphrase generator, and a command-line flag to start KeePassXC in minimised mode.
