Life-styling Goreans
Not quite sure how the link is on here, but if you click, you will be transported to a post by the Guardian from 2006 I found while continuing my voyages for quintessential Goreanisms online.
First of all, this might be the most insane thing I’ve seen Goreans do. I personally am an interpretive BTB ROLEPLAYER. Yes, only a roleplayer – I play Gor the same I do a Pokemon avatar, an anime avatar, or a high fantasy medieval avatar. Gor does not, and can not exist in reality; it is a ludicrous idea from a science fiction book; most of my time is spent laughing at shoddy slaves dishonoring their (mostly) undeserving Free. Essentially, those of us who are any good at this role-playing thing are great actors or have a chronically overactive imagination.
On the Grid, yes, I take it to be true – but to wear a collar and leash, wax, or brands out in reality, takes one to be madder than a hatter. I have seen images of many fellow role-players, and while subservient or sexual in manner with them online, I would not even go near them in reality; the same goes for the vast majority of Second Lifers. We are all on Grid for some reason. Luckily for me, I have a very happy, honest, loving relationship and find myself more than moderately attractive in reality. Companionship or romantics are not for me on here – I seek only to act, something I am very upfront about in my role-play.
That bit of introduction and aside leads me to my discussion: really, do you think anyone in reality wants to see most any of the Goreans on Grid, discussion forum, or whatever other media platform romp about half nude and kneeling on a leash? It is wholly inappropriate and irresponsible to do so publicly. The only time two adults should ever be able to claim life-style Goreanisms, is in the deep privacy of the own bedroom or home (if they have no children). As a fully coherent adult and avid reader of these flimsily written pulp novels, I would disdain and cut anyone I could actually think of doing this from my life. Which is why it is so totally ridiculous to make the claim of life-style.
I have been active in the Gorean community for almost six years among my avatars. Sefa is now the only one in Gor, and the second one I have active – the other is to spend time with my RL husband on grid and go to frickin’ Disney World ( or Magicland) with; it has nothing to do with my goofy play time. Neither should your realities; Gor is great fun if played out in a safe space – but would I allow a man over 200 pounds in reality to yank me by my closely cropped hair to the ground and use me in a tavern? No. And neither should women be expected to allow it – most lifestylers I’ve encountered are in fact male, thus allotting a rather easy role for them to live in
On the other hand, if you are a proper life-styler, I assume you are totally in perfect shape, carry your assigned weapons, or only dress in caste colors. It disgusts me to think anyone plays this out in reality in everyday circumstances, and if you address yourself as a lifestyler and attempt to ever force me to a thing or infringe upon a peaceful world with it, you can bet this slave will have something very real to say or do about it. I do not plan on accepting murders in reality, neither will I accept the game that I play online, for that is all these simple roleplying things are – a game. I do not hold feeling for anyone (well, perhaps for one Master who disappeared, but that is a slave’s lot), nor do I care for what happens to Sefa. Kill me, rape me, cut my hair, I don’t care for I am a pixel on Grid and I can forget it relatively quick – in fact as quick a glitch of coding. Have at it, then.
