New Braunfels Visit

We spent several days visiting Alyssa's family in New Braunfels and had a great time! Oma and Opa got a pool for the backyard and so did Great Oma, and since the temperature never dipped below 107, we swam A LOT! We also had lots of fun meeting 2-week old Hayes Marlow, going to Landa Park, the amazing McKenna Children's Museum, and a family reunion. The children's museum was quite incredible... it was so big that we didn't even go into all of the rooms! Cade's favorite stops were the fish tank, kitchen, spaceship, and anything involving cars. We also celebrated Chance and Aunt Gerry's birthdays at Great Oma's house. It was a treat to see my extended family at the reunion on Sunday. Cade seemed to get quite attached to my Opa's brother, Uncle Willie, which really made me happy.

When we came home from our trip, it was so cute to see Cade reunite with Sarge and Holly! He gave them each a big hug and couldn't get enough of chasing them around the house. He probably missed them much more than they missed him :)

Splash Time!

Texas has been "blessed" with record high temperatures lately, so we've had lots of splash times with friends to cool off!

Here are Cade and Natalie

This get together was a riot... 3 boys plus Chance in a little pool with a slide was hilarious! Bridget and I just got to sit back and watch the chaos.

And what is summer without a popsicle? Cade had more fun banging it on the high chair, but he did manage to eat a little.

Stay cool, everbody!

Visit with Grandma and Grandpa

Last Saturday, we visited Chance's Grandma and Grandpa in Deer Park. It was nice to reintroduce Cade to his great grandparents... last time we saw them, Cade was just 7 weeks old! We got to see quite a few of the Locklear cousins, too.

I don't want to wear a longhorn hat! I'm an Aggie!

Around Town

We love summer! Cade and I go to storytime at the library on Mondays, and a few weeks ago our family went to the Children's Museum. It is lots of fun having time to do these fun things with Cade.

Camp Adkison

When Zoe and Xavier stayed with Nana and Papa last week, we had a lot of adventures with them! We went to The Bounce, Adamson Lagoon, and Zoe's horseback riding lessons. Cade is going to rest up until they come visit again in August!

A Real Date

Chance and I got to go on a real date last Friday to celebrate our anniversary and his birthday! We ate a very tasty and relaxing dinner at Eccell Steakhouse. We then accomplished the very romantic task of getting ready for the garage sale that we had on Saturday morning :) Cade spent the night at Nana and Papa's house for the first time, and we were so glad that everything went well!

Austin and Danielle's Wedding

Last weekend we went to Austin for Austin and Danielle's wedding. It was absolutely beautiful, and it was really fun to hang out with the Locklear family!

Sorting and Stacking

One of Cade's favorite new skills...

He spent part of the morning taking all of the DVDs off of the shelves...

Image

And spent the evening stacking them up!

Image

The look of concentration on his face while he does this is priceless!

Happy Birthday, Chance!

Chance celebrated his 31st birthday yesterday!! We had a fun day, and capped it off with Chance's favorite dessert, key lime pie. Tonight, Chance decided to be a generous daddy and share his pie with Cade. Here's a picture...

Image

Cade loved it! The boy who rejected ice cream, cake, and chocolate pie has discovered a love for key lime. Strange boy!

In another demonstration of how great a daddy (and uncle) he is, Chance was a big hit at the Chick fil A playground today. See if you can find him in this crazy group of kids! Cade, Zoe, and Xavier are in there somewhere too.

We love you so much, Daddy/Chance!

Anniversaries!

The month of June is a very special one for our family! Chance's brother Austin got married this weekend to Danielle. It was such a beautiful ceremony, and we'll post lots of pictures soon. We are so happy for them! Alyssa's brother Chris and his wife Jessi celebrated their first anniversary yesterday. Chris is away at Army training, but they got to see each other for a few hours on Friday afternoon. All of us (and especially the two of them) cannot wait for the day that they can spend more time together!

And... Chance and I celebrated our 7th anniversary today! We can't believe that we have been married for 7 wonderful years! We are so thankful for the life that we have.

The digger returns!

Cade was so happy to get home one day and see that the beloved digger had returned to our backyard! He spent quite a lot of time on our shoulders looking at it.

Image

The next morning, the construction crew was not working (perhaps this is why the project that was supposed to be completed by the end of April is still in progress... but I digress...). So, we took a wagon ride to see the digger up close. Cade had a great time climbing around it! We had to leave when he decided to eat the dirt :)

Trucks!

Our local library sponsors lots of fun kids' activities during the summer. We go to storytime on Monday mornings, and they also have weekly "theme days". The first theme was right up Cade's alley... Big Rigs! I was very impressed with how nice the city employees were to let tons of kids climb on their vehicles. Cade was a little young for some of the activities, but I think he had a great time looking at the trucks.

Hopefully his first (and only!) time on a motorcycle!

He was very interested in the wheels on the fire truck
