Some More Summer Splashes

We just cannot get enough of the pool! Both kids now have the same love of getting thrown into the water.... thank goodness I have such a strong husband! I love the sense of adventure that they all share.

While Cade is content to stay in the pool for hours, Annie likes to change things up more often. She really loves the new splash pad in our neighborhood, and also enjoys lounging around and having a poolside snack.

Who needs a pool when it finally rains? One afternoon we had a surprise shower, and the kids did some awesome splashing on the driveway!

When the Parents are Away....

the kids (and grandparents) will play!

After our Austin adventure, Chance had to come back for football camp and I had to give a presentation at a conference in San Marcos. So, the kids went to New Braunfels for a couple of days of fun with Oma and Opa. And plenty of fun was had!

As soon as they got there, Cade got settled into Uncle Chris's room, including reading his American Hunter magazines and wearing his old boots.

Then the kids started on their favorite New Braunfels activity - playing in the little pool!

The next day, they toured the town - Naeglin's, the Co-op, and Landa Park.

When I got back from my conference, we all went to the Children's Museum and the Plaza fountain.

And we can't leave NB without jumping at Spring Loaded! Hopefully my parents won't disown me for posting the outtake, but it is just so funny! I am really so thankful for their great care of the kids while Chance and I had to work!

Adventures in Austin

Almost all of the Locklears gathered in Austin for a summer reunion in July. Papaw rented a big house for everyone, and we enjoyed lots of time catching up, swimming, and eating lots of delicious food! It was especially fun to have 2 expectant mamas there (Dani and Lindsay), 4 very energetic grandkids, and 2 very happy grandparents! We missed Wade and CJ, and sent them probably 100 texts and pics of the kids!

The house was close to a park with a great walking trail, and we spent one morning exploring there.

And of course, the Papaw-mobile came with us!

Our only outing was to get tasty sno-cones at Sweet Caroline's

And we gave Papaw an early birthday celebration. We are so thankful he brought us all together!

Our precious niece, Ruby Jean, was born to Austin and Danielle less than 2 weeks after we were all in Austin together. We love her already and can't wait to meet her in person!

Back in Aggieland

July brought us a lot of travels, but we also had quite a bit of fun at home!

We got back from Dallas on July 4, and I took Cade to our local fireworks for the first time. We went with Garrett and his family and it was much more relaxed and fun than I thought! We parked on campus, sat in the back of the truck, and had a great view. The boys were super excited to stay up late together!

The next day, we got to see Baby Bryce get baptized at church, and Annie wore her "fancy dress and fancy shoes".

That night, my good friend Rebecca from college visited us with her family. We don't get together nearly often enough, but I'm super thankful that when we do, it is just as easy as walking to each other's apartments back in college and chatting about the events of the day. Our kids played well together, the husbands talked football, and Bec and I went through a whole new wardrobe that she brought for Annie.

The next morning, we met up for a campus tour, where Bec and I tried to impress the kids with tales of "what used to be here... where we used to go to classes" etc, but they mostly just wanted to run around.

Our first stop was the new 12th Man statue, which stands almost exactly where the entrance to the Read Building (where all of the health and kinesiology classes were) used to be. I miss our old building, but this new statue is pretty cool!

We also visited the MSC and the Sul Ross statue

And finally, the Big Aggie Ring! These real smiles were brought to you by the fact that I promised the kids Canes for lunch if they smiled on the first try!

We had a great visit with the Stuart family and are so thankful they went out of their way from San Antonio to Dallas to come through Aggieland!
