Here’s Your One Chance Fancy
For the most part, I have to be inspired to post. I do not like to force creativity because when I do, I’m never satisfied. Well, I am quite satisfied with how things turned out today (whee!)
First came the new hair from Fri.day, Scarlett. This mussed up-do frames the face magnificently and you can get it either half up or mostly up from behind. I prefer the mostly up version as there are tender tendrils left hanging to soften it.
Then I saw that Surf Co. had new wedges and when I went over to sample I was surprised by this new dress! Beautifully done with shadow and multiple prims. The skirt also attaches to both legs and I don’t know if this was on purpose, but it looks perfect while sitting. I got it in pale blue to coordinate with my red hair.
The image I was trying to construct was of a rural farm girl; quiet and introverted whose head is always in the clouds. She’s got big dreams that takes her away from her prairie town. On early spring days like these, she takes long walks in the fields, watching the grass and weeds grow before it’s time to plow. She’ll fiddle with her mother’s pearl necklace around her neck and imagine the day when she will pack her suitcase and move away to find adventure in the world.
It’s a little outdated, I know. These types of things only come from Steinbeck novels, but I was reminded of the song by Reba McEntire about an eighteen-year-old put out of her impoverished home by a mother who only wanted the best for her. That song has always stuck around with me, now twenty years later.

Rural Charm in the Country
Yesterday was the high for the year. A whopping 72 degrees and sunny and though it wasn’t officially spring, I welcomed the warm weather whole heartedly by wearing a floral skirt and tank top. Nothing is sprouting yet, but it’s easy to carry that enthusiasm for the coming verdure into Second Life and find a place that is already teeming with life.
The outfit for today is inspired by the country, particularly country music. I don’t listen to popular country; I appreciate more folk country and bluegrass. I pictured what a new, up-and-coming country star with a deep lilt and indie charm would look like and wear. She would embrace modernity, but love traditional pieces from both her mother’s and father’s closets.
What you’ll find in the country:
:GP: Petal [Light] Winter-Cashmere 1 [for that sweet looking yet beautiful complexion]
fri. – Jasmine – Anxious Blond [because you go blonde for country]
*JC* STEAM PUNK necklace [rustic charm that goes well with the patched jean skirt]
Armidi – Sheer Ribbed Tank Top – Blue 1 [I love that the bright blue sets off the gray of the vest and brings out the blue in the skirt]
fri. – Halter Vest (Gray) – Jacket [that traditional piece that I wanted to dress up the otherwise very casual ensemble]
*League Frayed in Blue (skirt) [something eclectic and interesting that imbues that spirit that lies in the country that says that everything old and worn can be kept and remembered in something new]

Happy Thanksgiving!
Let the seasonal tradition of overeating begin! It’s actually pretty warm here, with this turkey day being the coldest this week, and I am waiting for the chance to bundle up and feel the cold chap my cheeks. But like most things, Second Life can provide us with the platform to live our fantasies. This time I took a look at the Winterfest showcase and I found Angel Woods.
This little gem is nestled amongst the bustle of the mainland and provides a very intimate scenery. Plenty of nooks and crannies for peaceful reflection or for couples. With the snow gently falling, I thought it was the perfect time to experience some new, wonderful designs by SL’s hottest designers.
What I use to keep warm:
:GP: Petal Frex [Light] Winter-Sniffles 1 (the new skins from Curio are so cute and are perfect for exploring the outdoors. Just the right amount of red nose and cheeks means fun in the snow. If you want to theme it up this season, winter skins should be on your Christmas list)
fri. – Cassie – Passionate Red
Zaara : Anaya cluster earrings *onyx*
*COCO*_CheckSwingCoat_Blue (I love plaid, and this new coat from Coco is just so natural looking. It drapes beautifully and flatters the figure. I can’t imagine leaving the house this winter without it)
*PERSONA* Dita knit blouse – white (for the plaid coat, I thought a knit would be best for underneath. Just so happens that I stumbled upon this sweater that I have had for just about forever. Always important to coordinate your textures and prints. Knits and plaids have had a centuries old love affair with each other that can’t go wrong)
*COCO*_SlimJeansBelt_Brown (it’s the little details that really tell the world that you are smart about your appearance. In other words? Wear belts!)

Talk about going from cute to sexy in four hours! Last night, I was checking out what was new at Lamb (post about that later), when I got caught up in the Designers United event. Really laggy, even with my mere 576 ARC (please people, you can still look great AND be considerate to others) but most everything was a steal if not free and were of impeccable quality. The crow theme? Unbelievably genius! After that I swung by LeLutka to grab a demo for their new Eclat skin. Wasn’t even looking to buy, but O.M.G… had to break my piggy bank and snag some of that right there and then!
I have to admit that the skins I typically buy have more natural makeups. Sure, when I try demos on I often love the deeper lipsticks and the colored lids, but when it comes time to click and pay, I opt for neutral shades. This time I was at that same place: do I get the bolder color or do I stick to the middle of the road? Well I went for it peoples. I figured: it’s LELUTKA, if you can’t be daring with a design so couture, when can you be? I went bright red and I never went back.
So for today’s outfits took a formal approach with more texture, unique accouterments, and less saturation to let the skin and makeup standout.

Autumn Leaves Start to Fall
This week has been less about fashion and more about socializing for me in Second Life. I have casually been shopping some new stores, but for the most part I’ve been hanging with friends and exploring.
These two looks are very different but share commonalities. One is rural while the other is urban. One is modern while the other is traditional. But both are cute and comfortable with flats that keep my feetsies warm in the cooling weather and thick pants for lovely days in the fall weather. They are multipurpose outfits, perfect for this week when I was all over the grid.
Both have on…
[PF] Skye <Milk> – Beestung (dkbrow) <— Has a rosy cheek perfect for outdoor apparel
Eyes Leona -SageGreen- *REDGRAVE*
*Beauty Avatar* REGINA – Eyelashes 03
Lefty is wearing…
fri. – Kate – Timid Brown <— Gotta love Fri.Day releases
Intrigue Co. – Love Love Love (black) shirt <—- offers a hint of color that sets off this other wise monotone ensemble
MichaMi: Carmela Cardie in Black
Schadenfreude Pearl necklace with cameo <—- I love mixing old and new, so a cameo on a multicolor pearl strand is perfect for making this contemporary outfit more eclectic.
MichaMi: Carmela Belt in Black <— Shiny patent belt adds interest without standing out and becoming the focal point.
{SMS} Shiny Denim Black <—- They’re supposed to be denim, but I swear that they look so much like leather. This adds contrast to my other cotton textures that again adds “zazz.”
*AuMa* *KNITTED Boot’s GRAY*

*ARGRACE* COAT ” Traveler” (Rose) Lady <— an amazing job. I love how versatile and realistic this jacket looks. And it comes with optional sweater underneath (wearing)

I Miss My Sky
I have had dreams in which I can fly all my life. I just lift off the ground and soar like a bird. However, the closest any of us mortals can get to that ultimate feeling of freedom and wonder is to use an airplane. In one, someone can look out their window and behold the endless horizons around them. The fluffy, white clouds floating below them. Not even the birds reach you… awww, I love to fly.
Another place on my travels around Second Life is Abbott’s Aerodrome. This airfield provides hours of fun with sky diving and demo planes, balloons, helicopters, etc. Very realistic sights and sounds, not too mention six sims of open space, provide for a very unique experience. I am a girl who lords quality, and I am very impressed by everything Cubey Terra has created. To prepare for such aeronautical gallivanting, I planned an outfit that is both trendy yet vintage; couture yet relevant. I want to look good flying off of the runway by taking ideas from the other runway, 😉 .
This is a couture costume itching to have wind rush through it. I feel like one of the early female combat pilots who trained during World War II. They are some of the unsung heroes of American history that are just starting to get the recognition they deserve. My influence was Amelia Earhart, if you can’t already tell. From my hair to my boots, I found inspiration for this ensemble from the highest sources in fashion. Now I’m ready for takeoff.
Aeronautical sophistication achieved with…
… LeLutka‘s pale Moscow skin…
… Curio‘s Betty Boop in red. Amelia Earhart’s hair was often cropped, but it had a natural curl to it that if it were longer, I have no doubt that Betty Boop would have been out of luck claiming this symbolic style, heehee…
… Armidi Gisaci‘s Lifestyle Aviators in light silver doesn’t need an explanation. The name of the style and of where you can get them tells you what to use them for and how fabulous you’re going to look doing it..
… Muism‘s leather Bomber jacket in brown. Same deal, different purveyor…
… an ivory scarf from Aoharu. It was important in the early days of aviation to keep warm. That required bulky scarves, thick gloves, and padded hats. Today’s aircraft come equipped with heating, but a thin scarf is a small detail that makes major impact when finishing an outfit…
… Zaara‘s Isis blouse in white. A button down with a simple collar would have been just what Amelia Earhart would have wanted. The comfortable cotton is what keeps any pilot comfortable on transatlantic trips…
… Last Call‘s breeches. The store might have closed over a year and a half ago, but nobody did work clothes like LC. Their breeches and other riding outfits are primary pieces in my wardrobe to this day…
… and finally J‘s new long boots in sand. The new thing for designers is to just make the boot all one prim and hide all the rest with invisiprims. It creates quite a stunning and unified appearance.
Flight of Fancy but an Eurail Pass
To be young and travelling is an important dream for my friends and me. For a lot of us that dream is an actuality and many of my friends have moved on to big cities or Europe, but for now I have to rely on Second Life to be my window to the world. I love exploring sims and the things people have created.
I think Showcase is a great tool for this, and if you don’t use it on a regular basis, then you are missing out on something profoundly mind blowing. More often than not I find essential places for relaxation or hanging out. Whether it be real life representations or something truly fantastical, Second Life is infinite in its variety.
And it inspires me to create functional outfits. I want to be a trendsetter, but I don’t want to wear four inch heels in a nature sim. I attach myself to the imagery, so for me it becomes a whole lot believable to be in a setting if I’m dressed for that setting. So for this post, I was inspired by Club Visiwa Estates, a beautifully done community encompassing eight sims. It is mediterranean inspired and includes a business district and both urban and rural residences. Almost venetian in its decor, it includes canals and entertainment. The second I saw it I knew I would be coming back again and again.
My outfit fits the type of tourist that wants total immersion in a culture. She’s tired of being sheltered by friends and family and wants to get away from school or work and just finally experience the world. She’s cute and fashionable, but she also wants to be comfortable. She’ll often wear what she finds in her travels and she packs very little; instead she wants to be spontaneous and free to go where and when she wants. This requires her clothes to be translatable to many different situations. Cottons are a must and skirts can be a versatile way of going from casual to dressy.
The only thing she doesn’t skimp on is the shoes, heehee. Three or four pairs of day wear and one evening are a must to keep the blisters at bay.
The clothes on her back…
Skin is the new Skye line from Pink Fuel, available at the Skin and Shape Expo on KMADD Events Sim. It’s the lightest tone, Milk, and the makeup is Beestung. I love it because it gives me the natural look I’m always going for and the lips are unique in their coloring. It’s the time of year when the tan fades and the skin starts to get that cold, rosy look.
My blouse is a standard in my wardrobe; and Armidi Gisaci Milla Milla in Ajan Creme. The Oxford is perfect for the student-on-holiday perspective I’m going for. I guess that’s why they call it that, LOL.
The skirt is new from Nikukyu at the new Switch Mall. It’s cute and comes in two different versions with optional belt. Also has lace underneath for a total package that’s amazingly under 100L. Whohoo! I like it because it completes my reminiscent look.
The shoes and bag are from Miel, a wonderful store that I’ve just discovered. Really nothing better than a comfortable pair of slip-ons and the bag was a subscription gift!
The hair is Fri.day‘s Eloise in Moody Brown. When you live in Hostels, the simplest hairstyles are the best. Fri.day is my favorite place to get hair now, because the textures, to me, are the best. I love every color, and that’s saying a lot. I also love that I can get every color for a reasonable price.
I’m adorned by Fab.pony‘s Leaf earrings in gold and Argyle‘s winter gold bangles. Enough bohemian to pull it off, I think, :p
Thanks to Bingo Poses and Katiya Rhode-Singh for her amazing textures
Fall Favs
This fall, the boots to have are calf and above the knee. For all those with knee highs (I know, I have a dozen), don’t fret; you still look cute :), but a lot of designers are ushering a new age of the thigh highs. The funniest thing happened to me (IRL). I was wearing new, suede calf boots and this random woman told me that she used to have a pair of white ones in the 80s… squee! That’s when I know I’m doing something right, >D
I love the mini/tunic look right now. I love how this Total Betty dress is off white and slightly bohemian. It comes with it’s own system belt, but to wear the fri.day jacket, I had to nix that. To make it up, I replaced the belt with the one I got at the fri.day sale (BTW, how fantastic was that sale?!? I nabbed things in every color… you can’t not).
These new BAX Coen boots are TO DIE FOR; they have the quality you expect from Bax Coen, and then they blow you away with their detail. They are also REALLY practical with a full menu of options including auto fit and different accent colors to create the perfect shape and look for the unique avatar.
I am a natural girl, if you didn’t already know, :p so to make this outfit perfect for me, I needed to bring down to earth the glamour of the boots and the hauteness of the belt. To do this, I have the dress, but I also have Truth‘s wavy hair. It hides all the effort it took to make my look so effortless. I complete my ensemble with Lucas Lameth‘s amulet set, which is just the low key way I wanted to adorn my sternum without covering the top detail in the dress.
Complete Details…

Back of the Closet
How many of us have collected so much that was either on sale, or free, or used for some one time event and then never wore it again? A lot of my unused clothes go in a box in my attic (Attic being a subfolder in my Objects), but a lot of things stay in my wardrobe and that’s not fair to my SL footprint or to the clothes.
So when I got no where to go in particular and just need to chill with the outfits, I’m going to make an effort to whip out things that I haven’t worn in forever and be damn to new trends. Its a win-win since I now I can save some Lindens for a rainy day… or a new Armidi debut.
Keeping it real with…
Aoharu‘s Lala skin in natural orange. Wow, it’s been a year since I wore this skin. Kind of an impulse buy since it was on sale and it went well with the Aoharu hair I bought that day. I still like it for its glow and flirtiness.
Docomo hunt’s british short hair for men. A hunt item that I got out of convenience. I really did the hunt to get the long style that was so popular back then, but I ended up using this in one of my photos because I like how the hair falls over the forehead.
House of Lion blouse from the jumper outfit I bought on a Harry Potter themed sim. I LOVE Harry Potter and I bought this in anticipation of the last book. But I haven’t worn it since (2 years, eek!). Not a bad top, and the colored tie adds detail.
Veschi‘s Jeanius shorts in gray. I always wear the pants version of these pants, but the shorts are also great and since it’s warm I might as well not way all that bagginess. Besides, now I can coordinate with…
… Riddle‘s cableknit knee socks. So wonderful that you can color tint them to match any ensemble. Also come with thigh highs and tights.
Kookie‘s Natasha boots in tartan. I do wear these all the time, but with the gray outfit I needed to punch up the color and I think it serendipitous that the gold rivets on the shoes match the gold buttons on my shorts.
Accessories include Zibware‘s Verve earrings. All I remember about this was that I bought them on a spur of a moment thing back on Dance Island years ago. I never wore them (they were one of those things that looked good on the vendor but turned out blah on you). I’m also wearing Kawaii Jelly‘s red butterfly ring and Sn@tch‘s You Bitch belt (I love it because it parodies Von Dutch).
Poses are actually a screenshots of a SeMotion dance.
Review: Forbidden Thorn
I’ve been shopping for new furnishings recently and I wanted something that I would put in my RL flat; modern and colorful with realistic proportions and sculpties. I had a chance to check out Forbidden Thorn today, and I must say that Xadie Katscher’s furniture debut is a delight! No less than six designs have been released and for each of them, there are three unique upholstery, wood, and metal finishings. The most surprising one for me was Fae…
For less than L$1000 you can get this whole set, which you can mix and match with the designs, and everything is detachable for optimum layout customization. The best part is all the seating you can get without all the wasted space! I almost feel like I’m on a kid’s play-gym and I can see any group of people using this to converse. I want all my friends to hang out on mine!
Since I am a fashion freak, this is what I’m wearing…

Life is one big road with lots of signs
This last couple of weeks have been so very stressful for my RL. Hence the lack of fashion in my blog and even time logged on to SL. The project I was working on had a deadline and now that it has passed and I have done all I could do, I am hollow and depleted of energy and brain function, so my first inclination when free time came was to go on vacation. Just take a couple of days to be with myself and nature, but I had to do this from my current location.
What better time to take advantage of the beautiful tropical sims of SL? Some individuals know how to visualize paradise and I can readily dive right into a SL lagoon and feel the warm waters lap around my legs. So I did a little shopping therapy and dedicated myself to sun, big drinks with umbrellas in them, and the hypnotic tones of reggae music.
Nothing like floating in the warm waters of the Caribbean. You feel as though the tide not only takes away the sea, but also your worries. Just lay back and let the ebb and flow of the ocean make your body and spirit one with the world. Let the warm sun blanket you in heat as you slather your skin with the fragrant oils of Banana Boat sunscreen. Your cells almost forgot what the sun’s rays felt like as they replenish their supply of vitamin D.
Camping on the beach pushes all your inland troubles, allowing you to live as though deserted on your own world. Sit on a big log of driftwood, as you gaze into the warm fire, its heat keeping away the coolness of the breeze that sweeps past you. The waves that hit the shore and the crackle of burning wood are white noise to your peacefulness. You sleep under the starts, the sand a natural mattress that curves around your body. With no city lights, the night sky is not black but filled with the billion bright to dull lights of distant celestial bodies. It fills your vision and you drift off to sleep knowing that they will watch over you until morning.
Sometimes you stay up all night, cheek touching the cool sand, as you watch the clouds roll in and the winds grow strong. The power of weather and nature surrounds you as you are unprotected by man’s inventions. You are humbled by its capabilities and feel your clothes and hair whip around you and you kneel at its magnificence. The horizon stretching out in front of you and the rolling clouds over head make your worries seem superfluous. The high is like nothing that’s been had before.
So that was my way of getting back to my normal life. It is certainly not the last time I will need this, but luckily for me it works every time 😉
Vacation luggage includes:
For my bathing outfits, I have Swim‘s Red Bandanna bikini and The Hub‘s zebra print bikini. For modesty (yes, I do have some, l0l) I used Awesome Design‘s platinum sarong from their Shiver Bikini collection.
My skin with the red bathing suit was Karamia‘s Mia in medium Bombshell; the red lips and high cheekbones give me a refined, classic look. For the rest of my vacation I used Cupcakes‘ Seduction skin in Wheat, which I picked up from the Easter hunt before my trip.
The hair has range, but each fits for the image I want to convey. For bathing, I liked the sunlightened look of ETD‘s Gwen in caramel; it was modern and gave the outfit structure. For the early evening, I like the outdoor and casua look of Truth‘s Tahlia in pumpkin. For the flowing evening gown, I wanted something equally haphazard and natural, so I always wear ETD‘s Ashley in a blonde tone; this time Sunny.
I wanted to travel light, so the only jewelry I took was Last Call‘s Wood, Metal, and Opal set. It amazes me that after over a year of closing its doors, that Last Call’s wears remain some of my favorite pieces.
I did not want to wear shoes on my vacation as the sands have therapeutic powers for feet, but when I did wear something, they were flat sandals. Shiny Things‘ Kelly flats and Detour‘s Layback flip flops.
The biege tank is from Armidi‘s sheer ribbed collection, of which I own all of since tanks are such a integral part to my wardrobe. The cutoffs are Tres Blah‘s and I have had them for almost as long as I’ve been on SL. The dress is Dolcevita in blue from BiancaF. and what a perfect name for such a bohemian gown.
The last thing is the hat in my hand in my bathing outfit. It is really the inspiration for this shoot. It is Elegance Hat‘s Lisette in red and when I imagined wearing it, I pictured the red bikini and the white sands and decided then that my vacation had to be taken in the Caribbean.
P.S. My vacation was taken at Bahia Tiki and Zen beach
