Scarlett is bursting with personality.

Little Miss Opinionated will let you know if she is not perfectly content. See how miserable she looks here? Well, she’s not in pain or hungry. She just wants to be entertained or change position and then she instantly stops wailing. I love my little drama queen.

She also looks very concerned half the time, as if she is contemplating the upcoming election or trying to find a solution for world peace. This concern even manifests itself in her sleep as you can see by the furrowed brow here.

I love to watch her peacefully sleep. Sometimes I can’t stand it and I have to wake her up to cuddle or I’ll explode. She’s simply addicting!

Strawberry Fields

Saturday we headed out to pick fresh strawberries in Maryland with our friends the Merkleys. I love how you can drive 20 minutes from downtown DC and be surrounded by farms and tractors. The best of both worlds. We are really going to miss this place.

**Disclaimer: While I don’t want to become one of those blogs that just focuses on baby photos, it’s going to be that way for the next little bit due to popular request. I also am loving showing her off.**

Notice her white bow in all the photos below. We used the recommended karo syrup to secure it but we overdid it and it won’t budge! We are still trying to figure out this whole parenting thing. I’ve been using a warm washcloth to soak it the last few days in an effort to remove it. The poor girl will probably have the bow in her head for years.

What is she dreaming about that causes a smile? A river of milk? A diaper free world?

Scarlett is two weeks today. Our Little Miss Busy Body is a riot to watch. She is STRONG and still wiggling all over the place. In fact, at just 13 days she started to swat at toys and she’s been holding her head up for limited amounts of time since day 2. I think I’m raising a athlete.

Little Scarlett loves bath time and becomes completely relaxed and calm. She’s a cutie.

Scarlett is 6 days old and Nate and I are so in love with this little girl. We came home from the hospital on Sunday and we just spend hours staring at her. She fascinates us.

My helpful friends posted those photos of Scarlett while we were in the hospital but I know that many of you have asked for more details so here you go….

7 Pounds 2 Ounces

19 inches long

At 5:30 am on May 1^st, I was awake in bed thinking how it was her due date and wishing she would come. 30 seconds later my water broke.

Things were going well at the hospital but the doctor grew concerned as Scarlett’s heartbeat started to drop after each contraction. Things suddenly went from smooth to panic and they rushed me to do a C-Section. Nate was by my side and next just a few minutes later I heard her crying. She was in great health but the umbilical cord was extremely short (6 inches instead of 20) and was wrapped around her foot. I’m just grateful for modern medicine and great doctors.

Scarlett is a very strong and already extremely opinionated for the infant. She’ll let you know what she likes and does not like. The pediatrician and nurses called her “feisty”. She is constantly moving her head or sucking on her hands. She is a very busy baby and a riot to watch.

Her hair is a pretty dark auburn and an inch and a half long in the back. However, with her blonde eyebrows, the nurse says it may turn blonde or strawberry blonde.
