Where is her mute button?!
April 23, 2012 at 2:19 pm | Posted in Uncategorized | 8 CommentsScarlett’s prayer in primary (the combined children’s class at church) yesterday:
– Please bless the food (There was no food.)
– Thank you for my mom and the tiny baby growing in her tummy (Everyone looks at me- No one knew I was pregnant until this point.)
– Please bless that we can do whatever we want to do today (I wish prayers worked this way)
– Please bless that we won’t show our private parts to anyone (I about fell over when I heard this. We have talked about the importance or modesty in the past but not sure why this came up)
– Please bless we will keep our underwear on (Speechless – I am still digesting the private part comment at this point)
– Have a nice day
It was a LONG prayer. She just kept going and going and was very serious about it. At one point, I asked Nate if we should stop her. Every adult was struggling to hold it together and had tears of laughter streaming down their face. And now, everyone knows I’m pregnant. Thank you Scarlett for taking the initiative to announce it. We are due with baby #3 on November 4th but I’ll have a C-section right around Halloween.
Next time Scarlett is assigned to offer a prayer, I think we will rehearse ahead of time.
My darling Three-Year-Old
Ramblings
April 1, 2012 at 1:06 pm | Posted in Uncategorized | 8 Comments– The single most frustrating part of being a mother, for me, is feeding my children. Scarlett is an absolute nightmere to feed. Autumn has always been a great eater but has been watching Scarlett’s reaction to food and is quickly following her example. Some nights I just make three different dinners when I don’t have the energy for a battle.
– However, Scarlett does love caesar salad made with all spinach. Score.
– Two boys in Scarlett’s preschool class have major crushes on her. One boy begs his mother to buy her ‘really really fancy gifts’ to show his affection. Both boys argue over who gets to marry her. When they play ‘house’ at school, Scarlett makes them alternate who gets to marry her and who gets to be the brother. She basks in the attention.
— Nate went to JoAnn’s Fabric store to get some fabric for a light box he was creating. He didn’t see anyone at the cutting table so just cut the fabric himself and walked it over to the cashier. The employee almost had a heart attack. He is banned from all JoAnn’s now (not really).
– Little brother getting married. California, here we come!
– These were excellent Swedish Meatballs but dill threw us off. I would not use dill in them again.
– I will not make this soup again. It is good for a bite or two but too much for a meal.
– Flying cross-country solo with both girls this week. I’m a little terrified.
– Trying to decide if I should start Downton Abbey. There are so many other worthwhile things I could do.
