I am a lifelong X-Geek (from age 11). I am mad for the X-Men and so this review is from the point of view of someone who already loves these characters. I was impressed that they managed to bring something fresh to an old story, overall.
My geeky, superhero-loving heart is hyperventilating at all these superhero movies we're getting this summer. First is Thor the story of an arrogant thunder god whose daddy sends him to Earth for an attitude adjustment. Unfortunately, nobody planned for the giant, destruct-o-bots or Evil Supervillain that follow him down.
Hanna is the fairy tale of…Hanna (Saoirse Ronan), a 15-year-old whose father Erik (Gerard Butler) has raised her alone in the woods, which isn’t creepy at all. He’s trained her to kill from birth for her protection, as powerful CIA agent Marissa Wiegler (Cate Blanchett) is out to kill them both. Escaping from the woods when Wiegler finds them, Hanna and her father separate. Hanna must find her father and kill Wiegler before her life is cut very short.
Sorry I'm taking so long with Samael. I think I'll just start posting chapter three, then get the link up to the edited chapter two when I can, instead of delaying any longer.
Technically a mystery but gruesome enough to be a horror story, OUT is about four middle-aged women with bleak lives that aren't going anywhere, until one of them commits murder. Then their lives start changing very fast, particularly with a psychopath hunting them down.
A haunted-house story featuring obsessed people who don't realize just how fucked-up they really are. Clive Barker's Book of Blood won't change your life, but it's a solid horror movie with good acting and effects.
A Mortal Glamour is a tale of dark, fetid corners of the human soul, of sins left unpaid for and hatred ignored, until something ignites a character’s potential for evil. This is horror in the vein of Hellraiser, Black Swan, and The Shining, horror about humans who might have supernatural help committing the evil they do, but the potential for that evil was always their own.
The Magravandias Chronicles is a sensual, epic fantasy trilogy (the third book is pictured) by Storm Constantine, most famous for her intersex sci-fi species the Wraeththu. Set in the conquered seaside kingdom of Caradore, our heroes must contact the mystical dragons of their legends to drive out the kingdom that oppresses them.
Heya! Was looking back on old reviews over the year and realised you haven't updated in a long while. What are you up to? What was the best film you saw last year?

I'm glad to know I wasn't the one who was a little…
