New in the cover art collection: Titian’s Venus of Urbino makes a splashy cover model.

In honor of #InternationalWomensDay, I present pioneering book designer Amy Sacker. Born in the 1870s in Boston, Sacker was an artist, designer, and teacher with diverse talents. She even founded her own school, the Sacker School of Design and Interior Decoration, where she taught for over 40 years.
In keeping with a frequent theme on this blog, it’s interesting to note that her cover designs were often used by publishers for multiple, unrelated titles. Some of these are so ill-matched they may as well have been assigned at random. LOL at Their Canoe Trip!

Back in 2010, I noticed a couple of book covers that were eerily similar.
Just the other day, I saw a third book that is ready to join the party.
I’m afraid I’m doomed to notice every book cover like this from now on. It seems to be a popular idea, so there are probably lots of them out there.
