Under the Purple Moon

After a stunningly beautiful day at the Bonaire Beach Club, it is always calming to feel the ocean breeze wash over you while watching the sunset. Before rushing off to a formal dinner engagement, it is always nice to seek a refreshment at the bar on the beach to reflect and relax, as the moon replaces the suns rays to illuminate the white sand with it’s iridescent glow. I was so pleased to find that Poulet Koenkamp can provide just the perfect solution for a full day and early evening at the beach.

The NEW Guarana Bikini ensemble from PurpleMoon, is at once a very sexy approach to an afternoon of sunbathing, and as the sun sets, the addition of the matching hat and pareo skirt the Guaran ensemble transforms to a sophisticated casual look for that visit to the Tiki Bar. Such a fun day to remember!

Through the Peacock

We do not often stray into posts “with a message”, but the generosity of one designer in her gift to those less fortunate is worth noting, please allow us to share… Second Life is a world stage that allows peoples of all nations to celebrate their culture in fashion, visual and auditory arts and other forms of creativity. Unfortunately, many are not so fortunate to have that freedom due to socio-economic and political issues, as well as, military conflict and other forms of turmoil. In particular, Afghanistan, it would seem, based on countless journalistic reports, is mostly characterized as a forboding place ravaged by war. While this may be true, there is the broader human view, as seen through the eyes of the people who call this place home. Men and women who daily endure conflict and unspeakable tragedy in a harsh terrain and climate. In Afghanistan, women must also struggle for individual rights which most of the rest of the world take for granted.

Trill Zapatero, the designer behind BoHo HoBo has gone to a great deal of effort to share the vision of these people, particularly the women and children of Afghanistan. She has created a compelling exhibit of the various projects underway through RAWA, the oldest political/social organization of Afghan women struggling for peace, freedom, democracy and women’s rights in fundamentalism-blighted Afghanistan.

How this relates to fashion and makes this noteworthy is that ALL proceeds from Trill Zapatero’s BoHo HoBo store are being contributed to RAWA (Revolutionary Association of the Women of Afghanistan) to fund schools, orphanages and clinics in Afghanistan.

The pictures tell the story of Trill’s delightful designs! Extremely well made, hot and trendy, colorfully exquisite, Boho Style. I was immediately drawn to the vibrancy of the long velvet skirts which have lovely matching tops but, could not resist a bit of mix’n’match with the rose lace-up top. The teal velvet top i saved to pair with the remarkable BoHo HoBo jeans, Trill’s latest release. Of course you know i cannot possibly resist the temptation of a wonderful hat! This great floppy hat comes complete with a menu for seven different texture options! I have shown just a few so you will get the idea.

RAWA Afghanistan Museum

We were genuinely excited to discover BoHo HoBo and see the generosity of this artist and designer to help to provide greater opportunities for our sisters in a beleaguered situation. I know you will find something delightful on a shopping visit to Boho Hobo and hope that you’ll make time to check out the RAWA Exhibit and take a side trip to the virtual Afghanistan Museum.

Purple Moon at World's End Garden

Poulet K’s recent Floral Dress release at Purple Moon could possibly be the most perfect summer addition to your wardrobe. The Floral Dress has three optional skirt variations including a daring utra-mini with a unique floral hem, a lovely lace trimmed mini, and a frothy Empire-waisted tunic style. Such versatility! you can tuck this flexible ensemble into your travel bag and be ready for any spur of the moment special event. The most difficult thing is choosing a particular color to wear from Poulet’s full selection of lovely florals.

I thought the Etnia Bangles from Purple Moon were very well suited to the B&W theme and i am always pleased with any opportunity to add my favorite two-tone spectator pumps — The FeliciaStilettos from SLink. Of course by now you almost come to expect a Kym styling to include a special hat.

Pensive - A Linden for her thoughts . . .

I found the Sabrina from Couture Chapeau to be just right. Chigadee London’s collection of incredible hats always offers a tempting style. The Sabrina, which i especially love for summer, has a menu-driven color change sash band to match most every outfit.

Last but definitely not least – Yula Finesmith has just release d a line of SOLID color nails ! We have enjoyed her amazing decorated nails for some time and now these are perfect for everyday, as well as dress up occasions. Yula has a 50% moving sale for many of her items now until she opens her new Finesmith location in the next few days. It was such fun to put this ensemble together, my first pick of the Floral Dresses was the crisp black and white but, after spending the afternoon shooting this one, it is quite likely i will head back to Purple Moon for more.

O'er the foamy sea

Let’s start from the top with a topper! Couture Chapeau has been making hats in SL for a a very long time and we have featured wide selection of CC hats including the one Sequoia is keeping the sun at bay with, the La Loren Firenze Chapeau. What many don’t realize is that there are very strong ties in both RL and SL between Couture Chapeau and the Meiling Couture brand. It was at the invitation of CC owner and designer, Chigadee London, which brought Meiling to Second Life and with Chigadee’s and her partner Balthazar Fouroux’s perseverance Meiling has continued to astonish, enjoying rave reviews for the Second Life interpretations of her real world hit collection, Grand Riviere. Sequoia is wearing the centerpiece of this collection – the Sea Foam Gown. Tosy Xue’s wonderful bracelet & nail sets, MagnaMater in gold, and the Memorial Love Pearl necklace & earring set, both from WTG offer a splendid adornment to this stunning outfit.

The Sea Foam gown is soft and delightfully feminine, the colour and fabric textures enhance the stunning cut of this cool summer dream. The deep cut ruffled top features a nearly bare back, perfect for those sultry summer beach soires. Elegantly matched with a softly flowing full white linen skirt the Sea Foam gown is both airy and seductive.

In all Innocence

The Innocence gown was dedicated to the winner of the June Meiling Styling Award – Tyra Eiren. Delicate lace, tucks and ruffles remind one of the genteel days of afternoon teas and strolls along the boardwalk or in this case “birdwalk”. KymSara was found warbling “these are a few of my favorite things” as she danced among the scattering of heron in this very special gown.

To climb Mt. Plaisir!

Kym also gives a peek at the delicate Mt Plasir, from the most recent Meiling collection, a pure a delight to wear and the perfect choice for summer evening cocktails and dancing under chandeliers or stars. The modest neckline, ruffled sleeves and flowing knee length skirt offer the perfect elegance and gracefulness for the sophisticated taste.

On Cotton Hill

A very joyful Kym had such a fun time styling options with the Cotton Hill tank top and skirt. Initially she found it to be a fantastic casual outfit, just right for a lunch date or a day of shopping. She was delighted to discover that a few simple additions of a favorite Contessa hat from Couture Chapeau, the new Spiral Bracelet from Finesmith and her bright Sydney heels from SLink made this casual cotton confection an easily dressed up bit of brilliance. It is easy to see why this new brand is doing so well in SL.

KymSara’s favorite outfit from the new collection is definitely the Ella dress with matching bloomers. Feeling and looking every bit the southern country girl that she is, she strolls the colourful summer gardens of Ivalde comfortably cool in the cotton lace couture of the Ella outfit. Kym’s G Field Lace Up boots not only match well but are easy on her feet as she steps over the uneven terrain and with the summer heat bringing her hair off her neck was easy with a fresh new hair style – Cocomin, from LaLa Moon.

Reflections of Aurora Borealis from the North Pole

JeanPierrot Hamelin, Curator of the Paris Metro Art Gallery recently premiered a new exhibit of RL Danish & Second Life Artist Betty Tureaud’s work entitled “North Pole”. In the exhibit the award winning Miss Tureaud experiments with the brilliant spectrum of colour and light of the Aurora Borealis. Rose (RFB Morppork), owner of the Paris Metro Art Gallery and designer of Paris Metro, took the opportunity to collaborate with Betty to create an unbelievable new dress to add to her Paris Metro Artist series. Rose has captured the colours and dynamics of the artist’s work beautifully in the truly inspired Betty Tureaud gown. The movement of the brilliant patterns and flow of the gown is as mesmerizing as natures brilliant display. This fabulous gown is available at Paris Metro for the duration of the exhibit with 50% of proceeds going directly to the to Miss Tureaud.
