What can I do with PDFMonkey?

Your PDF files are rendered in a Chrome-based browser. This means that anything that works on the web will work in PDFMonkey. You can use HTML, CSS, JavaScript, external fonts, images, charts, and any web technology to design your documents.

Whether you need invoices, reports, certificates, or any other type of document, PDFMonkey handles it all through a simple REST API call.

What happens if I use all my quota?

We will send you email notifications when you reach 80% and 100% of your quota. Once you hit 100%, the API will return a "quota exceeded" error and you won’t be able to generate new documents until your quota resets.

The exception is if you have pay-as-you-go option enabled (available on Pro+ and Premium): in that case there’s no limit, and extra documents are billed at the end of your cycle. You can also purchase Boost Packs (1,000 documents for €5) to top up your quota instantly.

What data do you keep and for how long?

We only store the information needed to generate your documents. The retention period depends on your plan — from 1 day on Free and Starter plans, up to unlimited on Pro+ and Premium plans.

Once your document is deleted (either manually or after the retention period), we delete any traces of it from our servers.

How is my data secured?

The data you send to generate a Document is stored in a secure database, in an encrypted column which is decrypted on-the-fly when needed. All data transits through a secured HTTPS connection.

We only use this data to generate the requested Document. It is never sent to any partner company, not analyzed by us or any external service, and is deleted as soon as your document is deleted.

Do you have any compliance certification?

PDFMonkey has no special compliance certification as we’re a very small company and certifications are extremely expensive. That said, we do our best to guarantee the safety and privacy of your data.

All our infrastructure runs on European servers, data is encrypted at rest and in transit, and we follow industry best practices for application security.

Can I cancel or change my plan at any time?

Absolutely! You can upgrade, downgrade, or cancel your plan at any time from your account settings. There are no long-term contracts or cancellation fees.

When you downgrade, the change takes effect at the start of your next billing cycle. You keep access to your current plan features until then.

What payment methods do you accept?

We accept all major credit and debit cards (Visa, Mastercard, American Express) through our secure payment provider Stripe. All transactions are encrypted and PCI-compliant.

For yearly billing, you save 10% compared to monthly payments. You can switch between monthly and yearly billing at any time.

What is pay-as-you-go option?

Pay-as-you-go (PAYG) mode is available on Pro+ and Premium plans. When enabled, you can generate documents beyond your monthly quota at a small per-document cost (€0.006 on Pro+, €0.005 on Premium).

This means your document generation never stops, even if you exceed your quota. Extra usage is billed monthly, regardless of whether you’re on a monthly or yearly plan. You can enable or disable PAYG at any time from your account settings.

Do you offer a free plan?

Yes! Our Free plan gives you 20 documents per month at no cost, forever. It’s a great way to test PDFMonkey and build simple templates without any commitment.

We also offer a 30-day Trial with 300 documents that starts as soon as you confirm your account — no credit card required. This lets you fully explore all features before choosing a paid plan.

Can I use my own branding and styles?

Of course! PDFMonkey templates support full HTML and CSS, so you have complete control over your document design. You can use your own fonts, colors, logos, and any CSS framework like Tailwind CSS.

On Starter plans and above, you can also load external resources such as images from your own servers, Google Fonts, and third-party JavaScript libraries for charts or QR codes.
