A Colorful Challenge

I’ve had a fairly rotten week so far in RL, and it’s pretty hard to keep my eyes open tonight. Before I crash, though, I will say that several of these items are from the current round of The Challenge. This month’s theme is “colorful,” and I’ve really enjoyed working with such fun, bright colors. I love this comfy Boomerang chair by Sway’s; the pillows are color-change, and lots of sits/animations are included. The suitcase planter from Shutter Field comes in 5 suitcase colors, and your choice of dark or light dirt (I’m showing light here). Oh, and the car in the driveway is a riot. I drove it around my skybox for a while to entertain my daughter. It’s free, so give it a whirl! 🙂

The chairs and ashtray in this dining set by =Mirage= have 9 different colors included, and the ashtray can be smoky or not smoky. The clock by PRIME comes in 4 different colors, and it keeps RL time so you can keep an eye on how much time you spend in-world, if you need to. Home and Garden Expo 2014: Random Snapshots of Stuff I Like

I spent the better part of yesterday checking out the Home and Garden Expo… 9 sims full of homes, decor, and landscaping! 😀 It was a lot of fun seeing the fabulous items being offered by some of the best H&G designers in SL. I first popped in at one of my faves, Studio Skye (sim 4), and had a difficult time making myself leave. Wait until you see the winter display… gorgeous! Since I wasn’t dressed for winter weather, I mostly hung out here in autumn, in this comfy outfit by Coquet (available at the current round of FaMESHed).

I know I’ll be heading back to pick up this cute, little guy from By Dorian (sim 4). I love that it’s a trailer… see the wheels? There’s even a hitch on the back side, presuming you have a SL vehicle big enough to tow it. Perfect for those SL campers-on-the-go who don’t like to rough-it too much. 😉

Who needs to be a petite when you can be dwarfed by these giant container gardens from Heart Garden Centre (sim 2)? They are seriously enormous… I believe they are called, “forest in a pot,” or something like that.

Sim P has several classrooms, theaters, and other areas where classes will be taught during the Expo. There’s even a bookstore (by Black Tulip) where you can buy a class in a box (be sure to pick up the freebie)! If you’re interested in learning about building, scripting, terraforming, and a host of other SL things, be sure to visit the official blog for more information about upcoming classes and programs.

I don’t actually know who this belongs to. It was located between two exhibits… I just thought it was pretty.

I love these adorable Park Slope Townhouses by Thistle Homes (sim 1)!

After a long, busy day, I stopped in at this beautiful cafe by Apple Fall (sim 3). I dropped quite a few Lindens while I was there, and I don’t mean on pastries.

The Home and Garden Expo opens TODAY, September 16th, and runs through September 28th. You won’t want to miss it! 😀

Island Invasion

Serena has been busy with RL travel and business, so Duncan and I thought we’d come over and check on the house for her. When we arrived, we were shocked to find the beach had been invaded… by hedgehogs! I have no idea how they got on the island, but they’ve sure made themselves at home.

A few notes about what I’m wearing: my shorts and towel are a recent subscriber gift from FATEwear. There is also a maple leaf version in the box for you Canadians. A House-Hoarder’s Home

What you probably don’t know about me is that I’m something of a house-hoarder. My inventory is bulging with houses; I see a house, and I just have to have it. I’ve never lived in most of them, and in fact, have never even rezzed some of them. But I keep buying them in hopes that I’ll find the perfect SL house for the season or whatever I’m feeling at the moment. I’m pretty sure I need some sort of intervention.

I had just bought 4 new houses when I found out that L2 Studios was (finally!) releasing their new summer house. I quickly tp’d over to the demo and it was… PERFECT! Behold: the Padre Island House. This house is mesh and weighs in at 118 LI.

I’m finishing up the landscaping and exterior decor. I’ve barely started on the inside. It doesn’t help that I keep changing my mind about what I want.

This fun dock is on sale from Alouette for 200L for The Neighborhood. It includes 21 animations, and seats 4 avatars. As of this morning, the sale price was still in effect.

I’m pretty sure this is my RL dream house. 🙂

Until We Meet Again…

My pretty, green dress is the latest subscriber gift from DaneMarkZ. I really like the texture and the summery “feel” to it. And this gorgeous ponytail hair is the latest group gift from LeLutka. You get a huge fatpack of colors, so you’re sure to find one you like!

This creamy skin is Glam Affair’s Livy in the Arctic 05 flavor. You can try your luck to win her for 100L at The Arcade Gacha. My pretty jewelry is a group gift from Baby Monkey, and includes the earrings, necklace, and ring, as well as a HUD with 9 different textures. The applier for my nails is a subscriber gift from {Wicked} Peach, and it includes 6 textures for fingers and toes.

N-Core Design recently put out these gorgeous shoes as a group gift. The heel is texture-change, and of course, you can change your pedicure. N-Core shoes come with their own feet, but the skin matching system is pretty awesome. I had no trouble at all matching to my pale Glam Affair skin, although I did have to play with the sizing a teensy bit. The water fountain in the background is a group gift from [we’re CLOSED], and my cute Frenchie pup can be found in a gacha at The Chapter Four.

A few decor items of note… the burger and lemonade meal is a group gift from ISPACHI. You must join the Love to Decorate group to get it (sign is next to the gift). The table, chair, and wall art are a group gift from *ionic*. Both groups are free to join, and there are other gifts for you to snap up while you are in the stores. The Fairy Terrarium and the box with the clipboard, magnifying glass, etc., are also from the Ohmai fairy gacha at The Arcade. Winter’s Dream

When I saw this gorgeous music box pose prop by *~*HopScotch*~*, I knew that I wanted to do something special with it (or at least try!). The music box let’s your avatar rotate and dance to Pachelbel’s Canon in D, or be still, if you’re taking photos. I have the snow option turned on, but you can turn it off if you prefer. It really is quite lovely, and you can try it out at the current round of Poser Pavilion.

To go with the music box, I finally ponied up for the *COCO* Doll Avatar, over which I’d been drooling for ages, but didn’t have an excuse to buy… until now. 🙂 While I was at the *COCO* Doll store, I found this sweet slip dress set out as a free gift, so of course, I snapped it up. Needing some jewelry to go with it, I found this pretty cherry set by Miam Miam on the Marketplace for 10L, an inexpensive pair of flats from ::Duh!::, and added one of my favorite hairs from D!va, which has been around for a while, but is still free!

My daughter thinks the doll’s eyes are “creepy,” but I think she’s got a rather sweet face. Anyway, it was a fun change of pace, and I hope you liked it!
