An alter ego (Latin, “the other I”) (disguised) is a second self, which is believed to be distinct from a person’s normal or original personality. A person who has an alter ego is said to lead a double life.
In many ways, Second Life itself is a means to providing all of us with an Alter Ego… a chance to express different parts of our personality in the way we interact with others. Perhaps you are more outgoing online, maybe thinner, or a blonde instead of a brunette, maybe you live as a child avatar or a furry, or you are Gorean slave master with a harem of women…or maybe your avatar is the complete opposite gender than you are in your first life. No matter who you choose to “be” in SL… the beauty is there are no rules. I live my SL each day how I wish to live it. I change my hair color, I change my size, I change my style from dark and emo to whimsical and fun. Sometimes I’m a vampire, sometimes a fairy, sometimes I’m a nudist (some people call that lazy). Honestly, I enjoy trying out all the possibilities. I don’t want to be limited to a nicely packaged box. I don’t want to be predictable. Real life is limiting enough.
