SotonHack 26 is Southampton's premier student hackathon, organised by the Electronics and Computer Science Society. For 24 hours, the brightest minds will gather to build, break, and innovate.

FAQ?

01. What is a Hackathon?
A hackathon is a 24-hour invention marathon. Teams compete to build a project from scratch, attend mini-events, and pitch to a jury for prizes. It’s about creativity, learning, and free food!
02. Who can come?
Any current student (undergraduate or postgraduate) from any university who is 18+. You don't need to be a CS student!
03. Do I need coding experience?
Not at all. Whether you’re a first-year or from a non-computing background, you're welcome! We are beginner-friendly and you'll learn plenty throughout the event.
04. How big can teams be?
Teams can be up to 4 people. You can form a team beforehand or meet people via our Discord server, which will be available to ticket holders closer to the event date.
05. Is it free?
Yes! SotonHack is completely free. We provide meals, snacks, and swag. Dietary requirements will be catered for.
06. What should I bring?
You must bring a valid student ID and a legal photo ID. Don't forget your laptop, charger, and a reusable water bottle.
07. Can I leave the venue overnight?
Yes. While we don't provide sleeping facilities, you are welcome to stay in the building overnight or head home/to a hotel. For safety reasons, you must check in and out whenever you leave.
08. Is the event accessible?
The venue is wheelchair accessible with disabled-access toilets. Please email us if you have specific requirements or accessibility needs.
09. What is the Code of Conduct?
All attendees must follow the MLH and Hackathons UK Codes of Conduct to ensure a safe and inclusive environment for everyone.
