Here’s something for Star Wars fans and for any who are galactically curious – the Bubocullaar Creature Pack from Sideshow. Without opening it, I am expecting its contents to be somewhat similar to the Salacious Crumb Creature Pack. That’s basically, lots of plastic molded without any articulation.
It’s the 50th review here at SWFToys. And the number 50 is special in different instances. Take comics, the 50th issue of a comic is often reserved for something special. Maybe time for an embossed/diecut cover or a major impact storyline. So in true comic-loving fashion, I’ve reserved the 50th review to a special figure. It is none other than Medicom’s Jack Bauer from the awesome 24 series! And this version of Jack is modeled after the Emmy winning Season 5!
After more than 6 months in storage, my shrink wrapped Masked Rider No. 2 The First is finally ready to appear! I had hunted it in my March 2007 trip to Hong Kong. Though not a Masked Rider fan, I was most captivated by the beautiful sculpt of these The First versions of the grasshopper pair. And I’ve always preferred No. 2’s green and am most thankful that I was able to spot a piece in the Mongkok area. There were several shops retailing it then and it was pretty exciting running around looking for the best price!
Here’s something unique to grace an Incoming post. It’s Tomy Direct’s 8″ Darth Vader. The cool thing about this fella is that he has a diecast body. Not exactly a 1/6 scale figure, but the diecast content caught my attention. Top it with Darth Vader and I’m all over it! And for a little guy like this, he costs between a Hot Toys figure and a Medicom. Potent little fella isn’t he?
Here’s an incoming that I had been awaiting eagerly for. It’s Medicom’s 12″ Boba Fett!!! And I found out how excited I was with this figure when I found myself humming John Williams’ galactic tune as I rode out of the mall with Boba in tow. And I did not notice it until I stopped at a red light. Then I thought to myself, “Did I hum when I collected the other Jedi?”. Well. the answer is… no. That’s how much I am look forward to Boba Fett.
The ultimate 1/6 status symbol has arrived at SWFToys! And it is none other than Sideshow’s Holo Darth Sidious with Mechno Chair(quite a mouthful… henceforth know as HDSMC)! Why is it a status symbol? Well, it is at least in the world of Star Wars as it was often the show-off furniture of the wealthy Neimoidians.
Here’s my 2007 birthday present from Mrs SWFToys some days back – Sideshow’s 12″ Princess Leia as Boushh. No, it’s not Bush. No senior or junior here. Just Boushh. This Boushh disguise Leia has got to be one of the most sought after figures for myself. For one, I love that mask/helmet. Secondly, I would like to have a really nice Chewbacca towering over this figure in my cabinet someday! And this Leia in Boushh disguise will definitely have a thermal detonator in hand. Wait a minute… I can even have her stand before Jabba and his throne! What a cool thought… but Chewie has to come first.
This wasn’t on my initial target list. It happened that the local store had a good storewide discount sometime back. On the way there with Mrs SWFToys, I was meditating on 2 words in my mind – “Clubber Lang”, “Clubber Lang” (imagine it in the voice of Homer Simpson). Yes, I wanted to nail the Hot Toys Clubber Lang figure… at first. Well, I got there, picked up Clubber and opened the flap. For the price it was retailing at, it just wasn’t value for money even with the discount. It doesn’t have much accessories really.
