Week 45- Daisy Chain Dreaming

Week 45- Daisy Chain Dreaming

It beamed happiness of yellow and white of pure. Shone glee as big as the sea with a twinkle that whooshed, like a glistening wave upon shocked rocks. It sang sweet sorrows when the rain dropped fierce and bright ballads when the sun shined bold. For it grew with every raindrop and wallowed in every ray. Soon it will be big, soon it will be strong but it will still be shining its beam of happiness and its white of pure.

This week I wanted to experiment. I took a small and “cute” subject matter so as to see what I could do. I love it, this particular effect is called colour pop, a handy tool on my new phone which allows me to snap those different colours bright and dull. I believe it creates a sense of “young and old” it is the combination of black and greys with whites and greens that really emphasises the past and present in this photo. A contrast subtle yet strong. I personally do not think this needs any Improvements and I would not know where to start either. πŸ˜‰ but I am always open for suggestions. Thank you for reading! πŸ™‚

Week 30- The gift of Music

Week 30- The gift of music

Music is a being that can; dance on tongues to kiss many lips, Laugh through summer days, to frolick through feilds and cause movement in everybodies limbs. She can spiral unlike any other to blast through headphones as if from a circus cannon yet float like a feather. She brings; Joy, Memories, Laughter but also sadness at her call. A face that can twist in two, both to the light and the dark.

Music is a very important part of life for my family certainly for me for I could never do without it and so many hours this week was spent videoing my brother for his future youtube videos. My brother is a very inspired guitarist writing his very own songs and melodies. This “constant” videoing made it very easy to capture some of the magic for my photo this week. I dimmed the lights in order to silhoette the guitar with the natural light which helpfully beamed through the window. This created a chiaroscuro effect along the base of the guitar as well as my brothers hands which I really love. I chose not to involve my brothers features other then his hands within the photo in order to allow focus on the guitar and its importace as the instrument.
I love this photograph for its simple yet effective outlook but would have liked to further experiment with the expression of what music gives us as I feel in my opinion this photograph does not express the joy or laughter music has brought me many a time which is probably due to its use of shadows. Perhaps a future post will be used to express that. Thankyou again for reading. I will see you next week. πŸ™‚

Week 23- “No-one Walks in LA?!”

Image

When I popped on that 11 hour flight and soared across the skies towards the big United States I would be honest I was expecting the cliches, the bustling streets and high end shopping malls, the grandure of a celebrity lifestyle with all of its benefits combined with the sweltering sunshine even a little bit of heatstroke… and sure some of that is true the shows were right about some things but no-one ever told me how beautiful it was! I suppose I should have taken my own saying and realized….. there is a beauty in everything, everywhere.

So my photo this week captures the beautiful LA sunset. I could not have thought of a better picture to express my wonder it was so wonderful I cannot put it into words without sounding like a blabbering idiot and sure some of you may say the sunset is only created by pollution over the city but I will forget that, for my only thought when I see this photo is of how beautiful our world truly is, my heart skips beats when I see such a wonder, mouth a gape we never realize how lucky we are, being able to view something so beautiful only captures my heart and embraces me in a moment… I feel special.

I didn’t need to edit this photo this week but I chose to frame it with the subtle dark silhouettes of the foliage. The colors intertwine within the photo and I feel that the colors really add to the pictures wonder (although I could never take credit for that). πŸ˜‰ I chose this specific title this week after something a women said to me, we were walking down to a shop, she saw us and was so surprised that she laughed and said ‘what are they doing, no-on walks in LA?!” πŸ™‚ it made me laugh πŸ™‚

Week 20- Tonight I Dream of Glastonbury….

Week 20- Tonight I dream of Glastonbury.....

The music trickles through the crowd, flowing like water only to be frozen by icy screams of happiness mixed with their dwelling lack of sleep. The night sky holds still and yet the many who usually succumb to its spell of sleep jump and jittter with excitement dancing like fools to the tunes of life and love, whilst their flags fly high along with their embarassment. Gone yet free. Yet, Light streams to dance on faces, enhancing colours clouding features and hiding reality.Β Β Lips are wide bearing teeth with screaming smiles. Whilst wellies plod the floor vibrating the earth like a thousand elephants… I dream and ponder…Who wouldn’t want to go to Glastonbury?

Now I love music, so when watching glastonbury this whole weekend I couldn’t help but dream about what it would be like, how m=fun it would be and ofcourse promise to go someday πŸ˜‰ I wished to express the colour and fun the glastonbury festival resembles. And so I took a photo, the figure is slouched eyes clothes to represent her sleeping/dreaming.Β I wanted the photo (background) Β to resemble boredom, the norm so edited it in photoshop. I then chose to progress the photo by using advanced photoshop tools and a little creativity to create a thought bubble and little details, I wanted the colours to only be surrounding the “Glastonbury” insignia to resemble the excitement and abnormality of what festival life must be like. I really like this photo it started of simple but it allowed me to be a little creative,Β  i just hope thats allowed within my competition! πŸ˜‰ I enjoyed exploring photoshop software and using my paint tools. I loved it! πŸ™‚ I hope you do to!

I would also like to say thankyou to photography monthly and Jade for enabling me, little old me to be featured in their magazine this month, the competition being a inspiration to my photos each week as I feel I am only enjoying it more and more with each new week. Thankyou, perhaps you bloggers would enjoy the magazine just as much as me πŸ˜‰ thankyou to you all! πŸ™‚
