Ashley Maul Headshot

Ashley Maul is a recent graduate from Arizona State University receiving a degree in English with a concentration in Creative Writing. Though her focus is in poetry, she also enjoys fiction, creative nonfiction and playwriting. Her work has been performed at a local high school and she has originated roles for plays now making their New York debut.

Originally born in Southern California a stone’s throw away from Disneyland, Ashley relocated to Arizona in early 2002. She has a unique love for the dry desert heat and can’t imagine living anywhere else, not even in the summertime when temperatures reach triple digit extremes. Her love affair with writing started in the third grade when her teacher would afford students 30 minutes of creative writing time after second recess and she’s been happily writing since.

Once, she was asked to list five books she’d bring with her on a deserted island and without fail her answer remains: Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, The Scarlet Letter, a collection of Allen Ginsberg’s poetry, To Kill a Mockingbird, and Billy Collin’s The Trouble with Poetry. Her reading reflects her own writing style – a curious combination of youthful fancy and shenanigans mixed with sarcasm and adult confession.

Like many other students fresh out of college, she is unsure of where the future will take her, but knows her trusty pen will always be kept in hand.
