1st Grade Buddies

Yesterday and today, Nelson House 5th Graders walked over to Forest Glen.  We joined Mrs. Faccio's 1st Graders who are now our Little Buddies.  They read with us, sorted words, and shared their stories with us.

Layered Cake and Argumentative Essay

Today we continued our Argumentative Essay!  We used pictures of layered cake to help think about our layers of writing in essay writing.  We connected the frosting to research and the layers to evidence.  We also had a wonderful conversation about the differences of cake.

Making A "Crime Scene"

Hello!

Today we investigated Room 214's crime scene by using our inferencing skills!!

For "voice and choice" options my students asked to make iMovies of "crimes" which would apply their 21st Century Skills and then they could AirPlay them to have us use our inferencing skills to figure out what happened.

I am so impressed with their creativity and application of skills/strategies!!

Room 214 has become a "crime scene" and LA and writing students have become "detectives" who are trying to use their "inferencing" skills to figure out what happened and why based on their schema and current evidence.
