We Need Someone…

💖💖💖

“We need someone to save us from meaninglessness and meaness.  God’s promise is this:  we have a Savior, and His name is Jesus.”

Share Your World

Image

Di invites us to Share our World–click the link at the bottom for more information.

As always an optional gratitude section is included at the end.
Here are this week’s questions:

  1.  Did you have an imaginary friend as a child?
  2.  Did you collect anything specific as a child: comics, baseball cards, teddy bears etc.
  3.  Were you a boy scout/brownie/girl guide as a child?
  4. Were you more likely to be with a group of friends or on your own as a child?

My Responses:

Yes indeed, I had an imaginary friend–and I married him!  Mr Perfect-Invisible (“Mr P-I”) is exactly both descriptions–so easy to live with, and forever young💖

I must have collected something, but we moved a lot so there’s nothing left from childhood (no loss).

I was a brownie…not by choice😉

I did not have friends, however early on I was gifted to be alone–my craving for books kept me well satisfied.  If there’s a downside–which I don’t view it that way at “happy 70+”–it’s that my social & relationship skills were not developed.  Who knew that blogging would make that a non-issue?😊

GRATITUDE:  “Five spoons full of grace“~

Image

My neighbor-friend gave me these lovely petite spoons–‘5’ is the Bible’s symbolic number for grace.  I placed them in the pretty cream pitcher I found at a thrift store.  Daily, I’m more-than-grateful for God’s grace, and thankful for folks who also extend grace to me…patiently forgiving my flaws, forgetfulness, and fluctuating moods.

I’m grateful we had a couple days of  leaden gray-cloud rains, a respite before the next bout of Summer’s heat.  There was even a dramatic thunderstorm one night, followed by an exquisite rainbow.

Glad & Grateful I am, for the privilege to freely speak my faith on a blog which anyone can view.  Many in other places around the world cannot do that.

A BIG thank you to all my ‘friends’ who visit here–may you be bountifully blessed with love, grace and peace.🤗💐🕯🕊💖

A Little More “Sunday”

Hi, it’s Therese ~ praying blessings upon your upcoming week, and sending love💖

I hope you’ll enjoy another peppy song from Elevation Church worship team, featuring Chris Brown.  God’s faithfulness is real and true–He was faithful in Bible times, and I know Him as faithful in my life.

And that’s not all–I have a share from Pastor/Teacher/Author, Max Lucado.  In his devotional, You Can Count On God, for Aug 24 he writes:

“The New Testament describes a progressive work of God to shape us into His image.  As we fellowship with God, read His Word, obey His commands, and seek to understand and reflect His character, something wonderful happens…someone wonderful emerges.  God comes out of us.  We say things God would say.  We do things God would do.  We forgive, we share, and we love.  It is as if God is scrubbing the smudge off an old coin.  In time an image begins to appear.

God’s goal is simply this:  to rub away anything that is not of Him so the inborn image of God can be seen in us.  When struggles come your way, could it be that God is shining up an old coin?”  ©2021, Max Lucado.  All rights reserved.

Thankful Thursday #2

Image

Here it is–another Thursday to offer thanks!  I confess I’m having to s-t-re-t-c-h to reach “grateful” today, but it’s okay–I’m walking in grace, a huge blessing, thank You Lord!😊

I’m thankful my place looks clean & tidy for the inspection coming up later today–I like ‘clean & tidy’…I’m just not keen on the actual cleaning & tidying.  (And I wish it would last longer🙄…I could dust everyday, but I have a LIFE.)

Im grateful for a down-to-earth neighbor I can vent & commiserate with…since it’s not likely the circumstance we’re venting about will change.  My only viable choice is to change my attitude.

I’m also thankful she’s a great cook!

I’m very thankful to have a new blog, and new peeps to read & comment with–it’s an enjoyable and productive distraction.  I can channel the looping thoughts into something more or less worthwhile.

If  you like, you can add your “thankfuls” in the Comment box–or do your own post, and share the link.  No obligation–merely an invite!💖

God bless you all as we head into the weekend soon–and if I didn’t mention it before, I keep you ALL in my prayers😇

Thunder Visited

Image

Flash of Lightning called

Thunder visited, arrived at door

On intoxicating fragrance

 Petrichor–and brought welcome

Story,  supernatural news!

Having heard long laments

He’d dressed in downpour

Borrowed from foreigner, Rain–

Oh how He rumbled

And reveled, relating

Bliss He knew would bless:

He’d sent Devil’s Particles & Pieces

Of  heartachememory packing!

Thrilled, I pictured minions

Leaping away (these named beings

With demanding arms had

Tangled me in Summer’s horrid

Heat, stealing breath of ease

Shriveling patient peace

Reminding me of every

Loss and aching cost).

With gladsome relief  I thanked

Him for His unfailing favor…

Watched Him wave from

Slow-fading rainbow ~

Share Your World

Image

From Di:   https://pensitivity101.wordpress.com/2024/08/19/share-your-world-19th-august/

To make it easy for others to check out your post, title or tag your blog post “Share Your World”.

As always an optional gratitude section is included at the end.

Here are this week’s questions:
1.  Is there a particular song that makes you cry or become emotional?

2.  Is there a particular song you cannot stand?
3.  Does any particular song remind you of someone?
4.  Do you have a favourite song?

My responses:

  • I tend toward the emotional, so at any given time songs can cause me to puddle up.  Although I’ve never watched the original movie, as a young girl the theme song to “Exodus” moved me deeply, and still does…the words and passion shake me.
  • Song that I “can’t stand”–there are lots:  anything that jangles the nerves; rap; ones with vulgar lyrics.
  • A particular song that reminds me of someone:  “I’ll Remember You”, attached below.  (My one-true-love…I’m misty-eyed just hearing the intro in my head.)
  • Favorite song…too many to choose:  many Contemporary Christian songs, and Christmas carols like “Mary, Did You Know?”

GRATITUDE ~  I met my new neighbor yesterday, a lovely single mom with a most delightful little daughter–they’ve just moved in, and I’m thrilled.  The 3-yr-old is tiny/short:  she approached me with a handful of little flowers (probably weeds😊) and she kissed my stomach!

I don’t believe I’ve ever had such an experience of immediate, unquestioning love/affection.  My day was embraced with JOY!💖

My friend, Rosemarie, is manager of the Deli where I grocery-shop.  We’ve gotten to know each other over the last few years, mostly because I have a Smoked Gouda cheese addiction.  I don’t buy just a few slices, or half-pound, or pound…I purchase the Entire HUGE Loaf at least once a month.  The other gals who work there are always surprised–and then gleeful–when I tell them don’t slice it, just hand it over!  (Less work for them!)

Last year, I made up a Christmas bag for Rosemarie and her son:  fudge, baked treats, and a candle jar I craft for special folks.  She was thrilled, and said she’d bring me something from the Philippines when she went home to visit her mom, who was in poor health.

Sadly, her mom passed away, and we didn’t see each other till a few weeks ago.  Bless her heart, she came rushing out from behind the counter, saying, “stay right there!”  She had a beautifully-bright T-shirt, and held it up to measure whether she’d guessed my size.  It was, and I was delighted since I live in T-shirts!  We hugged and jabbered for a bit, and I told her this will be my “holiday shirt”!  I won’t cook in it, risking spills!

Thankful Thursday #1

Image

So here we go:  “Thankful Thursday” will be a weekly post, and anyone’s welcome to join me.😊  You can add your gratitude in the Comment Box below, or post it on your site and do a link to mine (or not)–whatever you like, no serious rules (just be respectful)–the idea is to share some “grateful” in the world.  Today I’m thankful for:

1

My neighborwho is cool & calm (and patient) when I have a “modern device” crisis.  Something was on my tablet that I didn’t put there, didn’t want, and couldn’t make go away.   A mystery for  Columbo or McGarrett–but Deb solved it in minutes with a simple “disable!”

2

The devil had me in a tailspin for a full day–negative thoughts zig-zagging all over the place–he’s a thief, robbed my peace!  But just before I might have slipped over the falls in a barrel, the Lord stepped in via an emailed dinner invitation from a friend…food works like a GPS to re-route unhealthy thinking, doncha know😉

3

Glad & grateful for a new blog!  It’s like being an interior decorator on a tiny scale, with a well-appointed writer’s nook in the aerie.😊

That’s it for Week 1, thank YOU for coming over for a read–God bless you muchly🤗

Summer, but…

Christmas is sneaking about in heart’s mind ~

Too many “Heat Advisory” notes

Highlighted on weather site

Long sweaty days demand

Lingering cold (not cool) showers

Fans cranked up High, roaring

(Surely I’ll go deaf)

Brain fried crispy-crusty

Old and irritable, I’m hiding

Lest I snap at anyone I

Chance to encounter–

So vibrant, blue skies…lovely

But how do they hold blinding

Sun without getting singed?

I dare not be all-about-me

Others without shelter, water

Suffer immeasurably, more

Than I…many die for want of restful

Breaks, my daily prayers beseech–

Walking to mailbox I remind

Eyes to look well at hardy

Flowers, season’s saving grace…

Heart must be intentional:

“believers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable and worthy of respect, whatever is right and confirmed by God’s word, whatever is pure and wholesome, whatever is lovely and brings peace, whatever is admirable and of good repute; if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think continually on these things [center your mind on them, and implant them in your heart].” Amplified Bible, Philippians 4:8

I’m grateful, sensing subtle shift

Increasing–nights bring some relief

Temperatures fall slightly, offer

Welcome soothing sleep ~

A glance beyond window speaks:

‘Summer of too-hot won’t last

Forever’… (grand plans for Christmas

Have begun to dance, shimmer)–

Daylight’s reign is shorter now…blink

And winter will shiver in on a breeze!
