Maximally Vibe-a-thon is a 48 hour AI and creative coding challenge built for people who code because it feels good, makes sense to their brain, or simply helps them escape for a while. This event brings together vibe coders, tinkerers, curious beginners, and experienced experimenters who enjoy building without pressure and creating without rules.
This challenge is intentionally open and expressive. Participants are encouraged to explore ideas that excite them, follow threads of curiosity, and build projects that reflect their personal style. Whether you want to test a new AI workflow, craft something aesthetic, recreate a strange idea you once had at 2 AM, or simply code for the experience, Vibe-a-thon gives you the space to do it.
The goal of this challenge is not perfection. The goal is creativity, motion, and experimentation. You will share the weekend with people who think like you, learn from each other’s progress, and experience the kind of collaborative energy that makes building fun again. It is a challenge designed around freedom rather than pressure, and exploration rather than competition.
Get startedGetting started is simple. Register for the event, join the community space, and begin exploring ideas that feel interesting to you. Once you sign up, you gain access to resources, starter prompts, community rooms, and spaces where builders share progress and help each other.
There is no specific preparation needed. You can join solo or form teams during the event. You can start with a polished idea or begin with nothing and see where the weekend takes you. What matters is that you build something that captures your curiosity and reflects your style.
Show up with your energy, choose an idea that excites you, and begin creating.
The experience starts the moment you begin.
Requirements
Vibe-a-thon is open ended by design. You are free to build anything that feels interesting, creative, or personally meaningful. The only goal is to spend the weekend exploring ideas that excite you and turning them into something real.
You can build:
-
AI tools, agents, experiments, or playful automations
-
Web apps, micro apps, tiny utilities, or experimental features
-
Creative projects, interactive pieces, visual concepts, or aesthetic-driven builds
-
Fun prototypes that exist simply because they make you smile
-
Something chaotic, unusual, unnecessary, or unexpectedly cool
-
A passion project, revived and finally brought to life
-
Anything that reflects your vibe and curiosity
There are no required themes, no assigned tracks, and no perfect formats. If the idea feels good to you, it fits the challenge.
Build something small or something ambitious. Build alone or with others. Build seriously or playfully. What matters is that the project feels like your style and that you enjoyed creating it.
To complete your submission, include the following:
-
A title and short description
Explain what you built, why you built it, and what makes it interesting. Keep it clear and honest. -
A functional demo or working version
This can be a live link, a hosted project, a prototype, or any form that shows the core idea in action. -
A demonstration video
Share a brief video that walks through the project and shows how it works. It should focus on functionality, creativity, and the experience you built. -
At least one screenshot
Provide a clean screenshot that represents the project well. -
Any additional notes
This could be your inspiration, your experiment, your process, or anything that adds context to your build. If your project was shaped by exploration or playful coding, describe that too.
Your submission does not need to be perfect. It needs to exist, work in some form, and represent the idea you explored over the weekend.

Judging Criteria
-
Creativity and Originality
How inventive, expressive, or unexpected the idea is. Judges look for personal style, new directions, or interesting interpretations. The project does not need to be complex. It only needs to feel distinct and intentional. -
Vibe and Experience
The overall feel of the project. This includes tone, atmosphere, design choices, personality, and the emotional experience it creates. A small build with strong character can score highly here. -
Execution
How well the idea has been brought to life within the forty eight hour window. Polished perfection is not required. Judges look for clarity, functionality in some form, and thoughtful effort. -
Exploration and Intent
How well the project reflects curiosity, experimentation, or personal expression. Judges value attempts to learn something new, remix ideas, or explore creative directions even if the final output is simple. -
Use of AI or Technology
If the project uses AI or specific technologies, judges will consider how effectively those tools support the idea. Advanced technical depth is not required. Clear, purposeful integration is enough.
