Twenty Nineteen…what a treat?!

Going into it, there have been moments when I couldn’t begin t o see how I was going to make it through…And somehow, I am here, ever so grateful for it too. I am spending a lot of time with Miguel. He is an entire blog on his own.
I have a new appreciation for each member of the body. And taking it one day at a time.
So happy to be back, I hope you have been all that and a bag of chips. Leave me a note in the comments, tell me how I may pray with you; and what I may give you, to make your day better.

Till next time, easy does it. πŸ™‚

Themes and their baggage :)

I finally figured how to log in to my blog using this new theme although I must admit, it doesn’t capture my personality or lack there of πŸ™‚

How I’ve missed writing these passed so many days –Β  and with them have been some amazing experiences and others not so rosy, can’t wait to tell you all about them.

Happy to be home πŸ˜‰

we kissed and made up

… these last couple of days weren’t the same what with the silence from my friend and secret crush….he’s almost good to eat πŸ™‚ just saying.
So he saw me out on the town last night (got home late and was sounding rather husky on the show today, kinda liked the sound ifΒ  I say so myself) , and he sent a late night text message, which I paid no attention, considering I’d deleted his number from my cel after the silent treatment went on too long…

All was sad until he walked into the studio, and asked why I didn’t respond to his message….to which πŸ˜‰ I broke out into a smile, and my lil heart lept with joy at the realisation that I have my friend back, yipee

We had lunch together too.
Anyway, on a serious note…

When Your Prayer Life Goes
…Watch and pray, lest you enter into temptation…”‘ Matthew 26:41
The enemy knows what your God-given potential is, and he’s out to stop you before you reach it. Prayer puts a shield of divine protection around you; don’t live without it! There are hands holding this devotional that may not be here next year unless somebody prays on their behalf (Luke 22:31). There are people reading this page who thought that they, of all people, would never ‘blow it,’ yet they did. Unless you acknowledge the propensity to sin that’s within you, you won’t pray against it and you’ll always be vulnerable to the enemy’s attack. During the last hours of His life Jesus warned His disciples, ‘Watch and pray, lest you enter into temptation. The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.’ In The Message, Eugene Petersen paraphrases the words of Christ: ‘Stay alert; be in prayer so you don’t wander into temptation without even knowing you’re in danger.’ Paul writes: ‘…Put on every piece of God’s armour so you will be able to resist the enemy in the time of evil. Then after the battle you will still be standing firm…Pray in the Spirit at all times and on every occasion’ (Ephesians 6:13-18 NLT). The most effective weapon the enemy has against you is you! Your old sin nature must be taken to the cross and crucified daily. The place of prayer is where you do that. In God’s presence you see yourself as He sees you. There, at the point of repentance, He reveals, He removes and He restores. When your prayer life goes, so does your protection. So get busy and reorder your priorities.

What are you called to do? (2)

‘You are the salt of the earth…’ Matthew 5:13

When God called Moses, one of the questions He asked him was, ‘…What is that in your hand?…’ (Exodus 4:2 NIV). Moses held his shepherd’s staff. It represented his livelihood; it’s what he was good at. It represented his income; his flock was his wealth and his family’s security. God asked him to be willing to lay it down. God still asks, ‘What is that in your hand?’ What has been given to you? Your gifts, your money, your temperament, your experience, your relationships, your mind, your education. God has given you what Dr Martin Seligman calls ‘signature strengths.’ Seligman found that human abilities fall into certain categories. He defined them as: a) wisdom and knowledge (which includes abilities like curiosity, love of learning, sound judgement, and social intelligence) b) courage (perseverance and integrity) c) humanity (with capacities for kindness and the expression of mercy) d) justice (the ability to bring about fairness and leadership) e) temperance (qualities like self control, prudence, humility) f) transcendence (the appreciation of beauty, the expression of gratitude, the ability of hope, the capacity for joy). We all have the capacity for each of these strengths, but a few resonate more deeply in you; they are your ‘signature strengths.’ Identify these, and you begin to understand your calling. Sometimes we think God couldn’t or wouldn’t use us because of our weaknesses. No, the opposite is true. No one can speak to those who grieve, better than those who’ve suffered loss. Chuck Colson was the chief White House lawyer, until Watergate. But it wasn’t until he was a convict that he was prepared to begin prison fellowship. Today, if you let him, God will use you.

Knowing what we’re up against!
‘…Take up the whole armour of God…’ Ephesians 6:13
In spite of a great spiritual awakening in Samaria, Simon the Sorcerer was still in business. The people ‘…heeded him because he had astonished them with his sorceries for a long time’ (Acts 8:9-11 NKJV). So, how do the apostles handle this situation? Sidestep it? Coexist peacefully with evil? No, they confronted him with the claims of Christ, saying: ‘Repent…[that] your heart may be forgiven…’ (Acts 8:22 NKJV). And Simon did. A good doctor identifies the problem then treats it. The forces of evil around us are real, and we must know how to deal with them. Remember the tortured man living in the tombs of Gadara whom Christ healed? The spirits within him did two things worthy of note. First, they introduced themselves as ‘…Legion…for we are many’ (Mark 5:9 NIV). A legion was a well trained, fully equipped division of the Roman army that took orders from Caesar. Second, they ‘…begged Jesus…not to send them out of the area’ (Mark 5:10 NIV). That’s because they’d established a stronghold there. Can you see a spiritual parallel here? You can’t fight spiritual battles with carnal weapons and hope to win. Blaming satan for all your problems is a cop-out, but failing to see him at work in your situation renders you powerless. To fight and win you must know what you are up against. You must be able to look beyond the obvious and see the actual! You are dealing with ‘…principalities…powers…the rulers of the darkness…spiritual hosts of wickedness…Therefore take up the whole armour of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day…’ (Ephesians 6:12-13 NKJV).

How to receive God’s Word (1)

‘…Open your ears to the words of his mouth…’ Jeremiah 9:20

What attitude brings the greatest benefit when hearing or reading God’s Word? Receive it as God’s Word – not man’s! It’s propagated by us, but originated by Him. ‘…when you received the word of God…from us, you welcomed it not as the word of men, but as it is…the word of God…’ (1 Thessalonians 2:13 NKJV).

Here are four things you must always remember about your Bible:

1) It’s authoritative. ‘They were astonished at His teaching, for His word was with authority…they were all amazed …saying, ‘…”What a word this is! For with authority and power He commands the unclean spirits, and they come out” (Luke 4:36 NKJV). The forces of darkness around us must r
ecognise and submit to God’s authoritative Word. So stand on it!

2) It’s creative. ‘…by God’s word the heavens existed and the earth was formed’ (2 Peter 3:5 NIV). His Word alone was enough to create all that exists. He doesn’t have to strive or sweat, He just has to say it and it’s done. So speak God’s Word!

3) It’s effective. ‘”…my word…will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it”‘ (Isaiah 55:11 NIV). Every Word God speaks is on a mission and is guaranteed to accomplish it in accordance with His will, His strategy and His timing. So put God’s Word to work!

4) It’s dynamic. ‘”…The words I have spoken to you are spirit and they are life”‘ (John 6:63 NIV). When you receive it as the Word of God, it produces life-changing results. It can’t just sit there and do nothing, it must generate, for it is ‘…the word of God, which also effectively works in you who believe’ (1 Thessalonians 2:13 NKJV)! http://www.ucb.co.uk/word_for_today .
