I've read a few books from this author and this one did not disappoint. I would consider this book fairly PG, romance was very sweet. Story is about Madelyn, who is a neonatal doctor and loves her job. She's been dedicating her entire life to her job and working towards a promotion. When Nick gets the promotion and she receives some bad news of her own, she begins to rethink her priorities in life.

With a renewed outlook, she decides to go out and have some fun. She shows up at her colleague's promotion celebration wearing a very sexy dress and a more relaxed attitude. Nick has been forever interested in the always professional Maddy, but her changed attitude towards him at the bar had him confused. Him being one to never pass up on an opportunity, takes the time to interact with Maddy and get to know her better. He is liking this new Madelyn.

These two characters had their own baggage, but somehow were meant to be together and provide a wonderful family to two precious little babies. Lovely, heartwarming and romantic story. Quick and enjoyable read!

Christmas Babies (Holiday Babies Series Book 1)...This story is about Madelyn Ramsay and Nick Preston who are doctors at St. Lucy's Hospital. The story begins with Nick getting the promotion to director of the women's clinic at the hospital. This is a position that Madelyn had also applied for and wanted. Both doctor's even though they came from different backgrounds, are two career driven people, who didn't want anything or anyone to keep them from making their career goals a reality. But what happens when life happens and brings the two together? They have been working together for a number of years but each had their own opinion of the other one. Both have secrets about themselves that they are not willing to tell the other one about. In Madelyn's case, her secret could affect her career. Then there is the birth of twin girls whose mother died shortly after giving birth. How will they affect Madelyn and Nick's relationship, both at work and personally? This is a heart warming story, that's perfect for the holiday season. The author draws you into the story line and you won't want to put the book down until you finish it. I highly recommend this book.

Risk pens a delightful contemporary romance about the magic of Christmas with "Christmas Babies." Dr. Madelyn Ramsey is dedicated to her work as a NCIC doctor. She's also attracted to her new boss, Dr. Nick Preston. When two newborn babies are left without parents during the Christmas holidays. Will Madelyn and Nick, two single people, discover the miracle of Christmas the babies have to offer?

Risk's easy style of writing draws the reader right into the story. Both the main characters, Madelyn and Nick, are professionals, yet that same professional dedication has caused them to neglect their personal lives. When a medical condition threatens Madelyn's life, she's forced to make some hard choices. Risk had me turning the pages to find out what was going to happen next.

What Risk does well is allow the magic of Christmas to penetrate the characters' lives. The message shines through: The season is a time for giving and sharing. If we open our hearts, our rewards will be rich indeed.

The novella is sweet with Nick and Madelyn sharing kisses and tender embraces. "Christmas Babies" is an endearing story that will warm the reader's heart.

Christmas Babies is a sweet story that delivers the spirit of Christmas in an emotion filled story. Madelyn Ramsey, M.D. has health issues that threaten her career and instead of giving up finds a way to continue her practice of medicine, take live as it comes and open herself to the love of her fellow doctor, Nick.

The story moves quickly and I couldn't stop reading until the last page (2:30 AM).

The social issues of adoption are presented as part of the story; these issues are serious and leave the reader with a side of adoption to consider that most people never know about if they do not work in the field of protective services. That sounded too serious but what I meant was that child protective services do an amazing job working to protect all the children in this country. Most of these workers care deeply for children and do the best they know how to provide for the children who come into protective custody working within a government controlled system with many rules and regulations. Hats off to them.

I agree with all the other 5-star reviews - this book is a keeper. Madelyn, a doctor with a heart who loves the babies she looks after, gets terrible news that the career she's given up everything for might be over. A sickness she can't heal could be the end of all her dreams. She begins to question why she's ignored romance and the special things in life? Maybe now it's too late? Or maybe it's time to re-evaluate her future and give in to the urge she feels every time she see the good-looking Nick, the man who not only got the promotion she's been fixated on but is also the same guy who makes her heart beat a little faster whenever they're together. When a story is about babies and love, written beautifully with special characters, it's just so darn hard to put down.

This heartwarming Christmas novella brings home in a powerful way how we can become so focused on our careers and professional lives, we miss out on the joys life can bring. It takes a health crisis and two adorable orphaned babies to bring Dr. Madelyn Ramsay to her senses. Loved the hero, Dr. Nick Preston. Both hero and heroine complete a long and difficult journey to happiness together as they refocus their priorities in life. Well drawn characters-sometimes hard to accomplish in a novella.
