How to become a Canva Creator
Joining Canva Creators means showcasing your skills, creativity, and unique perspective through a portfolio that reflects your best work. Whether you’re a Template Creator or a Specialty Creator, your application helps us understand your craft, design thinking, and readiness to contribute to Canva’s global library.

Template Creators
Template Creators are graphic designers, web designers, desktop publishers, art directors, video template creators, and layout artists. They create professional, high-quality Canva templates that are easy for others to customize and use.
Application to the Creator program requires a strong design portfolio showcasing your design skills.
What to include:
- A complete, accessible portfolio: Share a public link that doesn’t require login, with 5–10 high-quality design examples that showcase your skills.
- Variety and craft: Include a mix of formats (e.g., social media posts, presentations, documents) that show your versatility.
- Strong design fundamentals: Demonstrate solid design principles, including alignment, balance, spacing, color application, and typography.
- Authentic, original work: Submit only work you created.

There are three types of Creators; Template Creators, Element Creators, and Education Specialty Creators.
You need to submit an application and be approved to become a Canva Creator.
We are on the lookout for talented individuals across the world. To become a Template Creator you will need to submit an application with a portfolio of work to showcase your ability to design customizable templates for Canva’s library.
Education Specialty Creator applicants need to be a verified teacher with a Canva for Education account.

Education Specialty Creators need to be verified as qualified educators. You will need to apply and be verified to be accepted into this specialty program.
All Canva Creators can create elements for Canva’s library. Elements include photos, graphics, illustrations, icons, and videos that can be used in template designs. They should follow Canva’s guidelines and be uploaded in the correct file formats.
Template and Education Specialty Creators can create templates. Templates should be designed for easy customization and cover a broad range of document types, such as presentations, social media videos, and printed materials like posters, flyers, and t-shirts.

Yes. All submissions undergo a review process. To pass review, templates and elements must meet our design guidelines. These are provided upon your successful application into the Creators Program.
While we encourage AI use to generate ideas and add efficiencies in the creative process, we do not accept any templates or elements, including graphics, illustrations, videos, or photos, that have been generated using AI tools to the degree where you could not consider the final content wholly yours.
Submissions containing obvious AI-generated content or that cannot be proved to be created by you, will be rejected during the review process.
