A lot of my photos from Portugal were of friends but I took a few of architecture, especially these famous tiles and less famous but very notable steep streets.

I think this is from the Swiss section of the trip. The Swiss bike infrastructure was pristine and it was cool to encounter the trains whipping past. Swiss drivers, though, were noticeably more aggressive than Germans, and it was much more difficult to be vegan in Switzerland.

Mainau Island is an island, technically part of Konstanz, filled with gardens and according to Wikipedia 'a model of excellent environment practices.'

I had been there once before in the winter, which didn't really show off the island's specialty. This time around, in the moderate heat, it was really nice, paired with a visit to the Biergarten in the middle of the woods closer to the city.

The city of Konstanz, where my partner once worked, was our home base for the bicycling trip around Lake Kontanz. It really grew on me this time around: it's far out of the usual tourist rotation for Americans but very popular with Germans. It's more vegan-friendly than anywhere in Switzerland or Austria. Transportation is pretty good, and there are things to do.

First photo from the three rolls of film I got developed - a nice central square in some town, I think in Germany.

This roll has some highlights, but also makes me a little divided about shooting film, because there are other photos which I wish were in nice adjustable raw photo formats. Plus, airport X-Rays don't mess with digital photos.

This ficus, at the Parque de Serralves in Porto, Portugal, was thick and dense. We went to the Museu de Serralves before, which had a lot of unexpectedly difficult art.

A highlight this summer was riding the GAP + C&O trails. A total of 348 miles, from Pittsburgh to DC, in four days of riding.

I brought the Olympus XA2, which is just as good as Ken Rockwell says it is, and has been my main film camera since 2014, and it is small enough to fit in a little bag on my bike. Really happy with this roll of film, though I wish I had shot color. Kodak Gold has been looking so good recently.
