Inspiration

People don't fail at learning because they lack resources — they fail because they have no one to learn with. We built Swaptivity because we believe the missing ingredient isn't better content. It's connection built on mutual need.

What it does

Swaptivity matches people based on complementary skills. You teach what you know, you learn what you need. Both people are teacher and student at the same time — making quitting costly for both sides. Every completed exchange builds your identity and reputation in a growing community.

How we built it

We designed a matching system that pairs users on complementary skill gaps, not shared interests. Onboarding captures both what users can offer and what they want to learn. Profiles evolve with every exchange, turning learning history into social currency within the community.

Challenges we ran into

The hardest problem was trust. Getting two strangers to genuinely depend on each other is a high bar. We had to balance lowering the friction of a first exchange while keeping enough structure to make the relationship feel real and worth showing up for.

What's next for Swaptivity

Deeper community features — reputation systems, long-term learning relationships, and small "swap circles" where groups form around interlocking skills. The goal is a learning network as valuable as your professional one, built on what you've genuinely shared.
