The Software Development Guide for Recruitment Software is a technical document addressed mainly to product managers and developers, describing how to design and implement a human recommendation system. The document aims to describe what criteria a product and its design should satisfy, how new products should be developed and how existing products should be managed, maintained and improved. The guide aims to provide guidelines on how to effectively integrate bias detection and mitigation techniques in the pipeline of an automatic hiring tool, taking into account that the system should be compliant with European Law and with the requirements imposed by Auditing Companies. Thus, this report is written in close collaboration with authors of our reports “Impact assessment and auditing framework” and “Equality monitoring protocol”. The document focuses on the automation of the screening and sourcing process with a focus on candidate ranking systems, candidate search systems and candidate recommendation systems.
