Void Battle I over Ulant

 Now that Imperial reinforcements arrive over Ulant, the counterattack can begin. But before and new forces are deployed onto the planet surface, the Tyranid presence in orbit must be destroyed.

This particular 'Nid fleet consists of three Hive Ships with attending Cruisers< Kraken and Drone ships...

The Imperials have one Apocalypse Class Battleship, the Emperor's Sword; one Retribution Class Battleship. the Destroyer of His Enemies;, two Defiant Class Light Cruisers, the Void Triumph and the Eyes of Dire,  and attending frigates and destroyers...

The Imperial Navy strikes first, but quickly come to realize that taking down the Kraken is hard work (small vessels subtract one from to hit roll. then followed by a roll of 6 to penetrate it's thick armor...

The Emperor's Sword unloads a full broadside and it destroys an entire Kraken flotilla!

A Hive ship and cruiser close in on the Destroyer of His Enemies while the Drone flotilla sets its' sight on the Void Triumph...

As the Navy loses a destroyer,  the Eyes of Fire is attacked by a host of Kraken...

Although they both take substantial damage, both Cruisers survive...

Both Battleships fight off a host of Kraken and Drone ships while taking some damage. They also dodge a Hive Ship which passes between them...

The 'Nid Drone Ships are devastated...

The Void Triumph destroys one of the few remaining Kraken...

The last Drones and a Kraken fall to the guns of the Destroyer of His Enemies...

A Frigate is lost but the Destroyer of His Enemies claims another victim, a Tyranid Cruiser screening its Hive Ship (left edge of photo)...

A Destroyer is lost trying to finish a badly wounded Hive Ship, which joins a cruiser to escape...

The Imperial Admiral has won a victory! Two wounded Hive Ships and a single cruiser withdrew to regroup with the remaining forces of their fleet. One final struggle remains to the Imperial force to eliminate the Void Fleet of the Tyranids!

Ulant: The Tyranid Swarm attack the small Hive City Helios

 A massive 'Nid force is approaching Helios. Ripper Swarms, Hormagaunts, Termagaunts leading Warriors and Genestealers on the left...

In the center, leading Neurogaunts, more Temagaunts and Hormagaunts, and Genestealers, followed by Barbgaunts and Biovores.

On the right. yet more Neurogaunts, Termagaunts, Hormagaunts, Genestealers and Warriors...

Dug in forward of Helios' Wall in the center/right are located the PDF forces strengthened with heavy weapons...

As the swarm begins its advamce, the Imperial forces score their first hits in the center...

As Gargoyles and a Carnifex move on to the battlefield, the lesser creatures are being mowed down by the Imperials...

Its the same on the Left. Despite the heavy toll the PDF reaped upon the 'Nids, they are devastated once melee commences...

As the Genestealers destroy the Olgryn defenders, the Norn Emissary reaches the gate...

The PDF forces have been virtually annihilated...

As the Tyranids reach to destroy the gun crews and the Norn Emissary braches the gate, Helios becomes the latest source of Tyranid biomass to be devoured. If the Imperials dont' break through the Tyranid blockade, the planet Ulant will be lost...

Greenskins Attempt an Escape from the Rok

Following the defeat inside the Orks Rok, their last major forces forced their way through a large gap blown in its outer hull. These consisted of (left to right at top) a MegaDredd, Stompa, Gorganaught, Super Stompa (Redone Imperial Knight) and finally a second MegaDredd. Waiting for them (good inteligence this time) the Imperials had: (bottome, left to right) a massive Knight Arcanus; a Knight Valiant, screened by 4x Armigers; and two further Knights, an Errant and Defender.

The Greenskins concentrate all their fire on the largest target, the Acastus, and after two turns brings it down! (some very good shooting and damage rolls here)...

One of the MegaDredds is next...

While the Knight Valiant (in red) moves against one of the Stompas, the Knight Errant is facing off with the other along with the Gorgonaught...

A bloodbath occurs, as the Stompa, Valiant and an Armiger destroy each other...

The Gorgonaught falls nest while both the Kinght Errant and the second Mega Dredd are taking hits...

Suddenly (and one might say unexpectedly) the ex-imperial turned Stompa is destroyed...

The final Mega Dredd is overwhelmed by the Imperial forces...

First time for a Knightly fight and it was a blast. Lot of firepower meant destruction occurred quickly. With this victory, the Imperial forces have finally secured planet Skyrene for the Emperor. Now the gathered might can be sent against the Tyranids besieging Ulant...

The Imperial Attack on the Greenskin Rok

With the Ork presence on Skyren virtually annihilated, and with the strong reinforcements sent  by the various Adeptus Astartes chapters, the High Command decided it was time for a direct assault on the crashed Rok. several squads of Marines and Terminators prepared to wipe this stain from the planet.

The left-most tunnel was utilized by Blood Angel Terminators. When the door was opened, a Mob of Boyz was discovered and attacked...

Next tunnel to the right was used by Blood Angel Scouts, who did quite well upon entering a large chamber...

The large central corridor was entered by Dark Angel Terminators...

The far right tunnel was entered by Salamander Terminators...

The Blood Angels fighting their way into the first room suffering only one hit by the Orks (note the red die on right)...

The Orcs beginning to overwhelm the Scouts. Assistance will be necessary...

Breaking down a large malfunctioning hatch, some Killa Kans are assaulted. Losses are suffered by both sides...

Back at the left hand assault, only the Mob's Nob remains while another hit is taken by one of the Terminators...

The remaining Scouts hear that Terminators are headed their way...

The difficult struggle in the main corridor is nearly its finish as one one damaged Killa Kan is standing...

With narrow space, the fighting is tight while an Astartes survives taking one wound...

Time runs out and it was agreed that the Astartes had gained the upper hand. Skyren has been cleared...or has it?
