Nicoleta

Mureș(b.1996) is a romanian artist based in Madrid, working with digital collages, video, animation, 3D, AR and generative AI. Her practice is a continuous observation of the virtual body under different stress related situations, anxieties, fear. Her goal is to further investigate the possibilities and limitations that put the flesh, be it real or digital in the spotlight.


 Her visuals predict a dystopian future, where people have to deal with unreal emotions, isolation, disembodiment while being influenced by the way in which technology fuels humanity’s desire to consume. Her projects reflect on how the Internet distorts life and the profound changes that affect humankind. The lack of reactions from reality is what made her think that we are heading towards a “numbness” of senses and personality. As we spend more time searching for content online, we increase the possibility that we become like the objects around us: still, fixed in appliances, immovable.


Nicoleta’s works were also displayed in festivals:&#38;nbsp;Tour de Moon(2022),&#38;nbsp;Simultan(2022, 2024), Digerati Emergent Media Festival(2023, 2024), ADAF(2024), PAF(2024), 
Boreal Screendance Festival (2025), MMMAD Festival(2026) and art fairs:&#38;nbsp;Liste Art Fair Basel(2022),&#38;nbsp;Viennacontemporary(2022). &#38;nbsp;

The Eternal Night Shift (2024)


In a world that values productivity above all else, it's easy to feel like we're living a life of eternal night, trapped in a cycle of work and sleep. The animation explores the relationship between the vampire archetype and the modern, self-destructive lifestyle, where mental and physical health issues are all too common.This sleep-deprived generation find themselves stuck in their perfect corporate WFH cubicles, struggling to find meaning in their lives. Coffee breaks and caffeine consumption are often seen as a way to cope with the stress and monotony of work, but drinking excessive amounts can lead to burnout and other substantial issues.The video is also inspired by the movie Vampire’s Kiss, a dark comedy that tells the story of a man named Peter Loew (played by Nicolas Cage) who becomes convinced that he has been bitten by a vampire. The film has become a cult classic, and its significance lies in its portrayal of mental illness and the descent into madness.The film has been interpreted as a commentary on the narcissistic and self-destructive tendencies of contemporary urban life. Peter's character is portrayed as a man struggling with loneliness, anxiety, and a lack of purpose, and his belief that he has become a vampire can be seen as a metaphor for his own self-destructive tendencies.
